The somewhat annoying thing about synchronized swimming is that it's not a popular sport. So we would have to travel to "local" meets that would be a couple states away, and "regional" meets are several states away. I don't miss the long drives. The performances/routines were fun to watch.

During my lunchtime walk an older man having a psychotic and/or drug induced episode was ranting and raving and punching a news stand. Removed a few large bricks from a wall around a parking lot and smashed them on the sidewalk. Also tried to grab a few pedestrians. Shirt comes off. Then the pants. Then the underwear is down at his ankles. Police finally cuff him while waiting for paramedics.

Meanwhile. Onlookers are laughing. One guy even walks by while the cops are holding the man down to take video. WTH is wrong with so many people? So much enjoyment from the suffering of others.

Finally got the doghouse for my wife's pup made! Just have to pick it up tomorrow and paint it.

Indoor kennel. The little pup overnights in her crate, which this will replace. But, it does look like a jail! Lol.

More popular than fencing. When I was in college, the only people who came to fencing matches were other fencers. And parents of fencers. And archery? Basically nobody comes to shoots who isn't shooting.

To a human. To a dog, it looks like a nice, safe, cozy den.

Things seem relatively well.

I told the nurse about my running. She did a good job hiding her admiration.

Forgot to mention: the infusion nurse was in the process of giving me the wrong dosage--500mg instead of 600 mg--until I asked her about it. SMH.

I stopped wearing my mask at work for all of two days. Even though everyone onsite is vaccinated, everyone's more comfortable masked. So mine never got dusty.

I am following the data on covid closely. It looks like the UK is about 1 month ahead of the USA in terms of recent increase, and their daily cases peaked about 2 weeks ago and are coming down.

So my hope is that our cases will peak in the next 2 weeks.

If I squint at the graphs, I think I can see an inflection point. Maybe.

SMH.

Golly, a facility full of people who work in science, many of whom have children who are too young to vaccinate, and they prefer to continue masking when in close proximity. Why won't they do what some rando from Tennessee thinks they should.

How stupid is their population compared to ours?

I think there's some evidence that the worst hit states MAY HAVE peaked, but we've got so many different areas in so many different stages of the Delta spread that even after the peak at the national level some will be still pre-peak.

Does everyone mask during flu season, because (for vaccinated people) that's essentially what this is.

No, but they also understand the speed of evolution of a virus increases with the number of people infected, especially with the selective pressure of vaccine induced immunity, so......

LesterOfPuppets 07-29-21 01:15 PM

I never stopped masking indoors. Some reports say that the vaxxed can carry and spread, so best to mask up to stop the spread.

In some ways the vax is probably bad for the COVID situation. Whole lot of vaxxed just went out and partied like 1999 as soon as they got the jabs.
