Barf. I used to get upset about misuse of "begs the question" and "in waiting."

Well, that just begs the question.

I'm in waiting for a response to the question that was begged. :innocent:

I have fox on my TV. If only I could exterminate it.

As Bruce Thompson once said, "Since common usage is the only criterion for correct usage, it is pointless to complain that this new usage is incorrect."

You probably can through the parental controls.

In my opinion, this corruption robs a term of a unique and important referent, substituting a mundane and redundant one. This is not a neutral change of usage, it is the destruction of language.

I'm sure bobcats are way more common out here than fox are. When I've seen the cats it's usually in the hills around the city where they get desensitized to humans.

On tv nobody says "affected" anymore. It's always "impacted".
And apparently "irregardless" is now a real word.

I think when people use the term "woke" to try and insult someone it makes them sound stupid.

Just exterminate the Fox "News" Network and keep the local affiliate.

Oh, and the NHRA is on FS1.

There is a local mup that lots of cyclists use for fitness rides since it is a five mile stretch through the woods with no cross streets, development or outlets. Lots of bobcats roam the area, but they are really acclimated to the people. They used to make me nervous, but now I just give them some space. Once I rode onto a bridge and a cat was walking on it toward me. We both just moved over and waived.

These battles were lost decades ago, but I'm still annoyed by the use of "leverage" as a verb except in the technical sense from finance and "parameter" to mean "limit" or "definition."

Arguably, there have been very many examples of that over time. You are not wrong in any event. Unfortunately, most people don't care.

Ahh. I get it now.

I knew the Trucks and NHRA were on FS1, but I'm certain Billy could give two ***** about those, hence my silence in that regard.

I wonder if Gilligan's Island was on the map. If not, they landed in uncharted territory. But it was not unchartered.

I first noticed this in corporate correspondence. I think it originated because somebody didn't know the correct usage of affect and effect. Also, impact sounds more active.
