It was the first car I ever worked on, belonged to a friend's dad. We were 14 or so and we got it to run after dripping gasoline on an incandescent drop light and almost burning down his garage. Eventually we found the hose on the inlet side of the fuel pump sucking air.

When I was about 20 my room mate had a Dauphine. The spare tire was in a drawer under the front bumper. I backed into his car with the step bumper of my truck and the drawer would no longer open. He discovered this when he got a flat. I should remind him of that next time I see him.

The fuel filler was under the hood right next to the coolant filler. I worked in a gas station and a kid there filled the gas tank with water trying to help the car which was running hot.

You could flip the end of the turn signal stalk around and it would change the sound of the horn, they featured that on their tv commercials. Every one I ever drove had a really loose shifter, like you could move the shifter in a 12 inch circle no matter what gear it was in.

I bit the bullet and ordered a Garmin 530. I found a decent priced one on ScamBay. It’s got way more functionality than I want or need. I just need a head unit that will give route directions and play nice with my Varia radar and NOT crap out after 2-3 hours as my 130 has been doing. I am optimistic this will fit the bill.

I’m really pleased with mine- have both the Varia radar and headlight attached to it and it’s great.

Set the ERG at 165 watts today and rode that for 2 hours. According to intervals the upper level of zone 2 is around 172 watts, and my other zone 2 work outs were around 150 watts. I read an article this morning about the importance of zone 2 for training but specifically keeping it close to zone 3 without going to zone 3.

Anyways, it was hard. My heart rate didn’t go up or anything like that, my legs just got tired. I was kind of surprised, but I was able to finish. Not sure where I am going with this. Thank you for reading.

Did you do it with any app? I couldn’t sit at the same wattage for two hours without blowing my brains out. One thing I like about TR is the variation in power inside the zones

Then 165 was right on the money.

I set up the workout in zwift. First hour I just rode watching the app. There was guy in gcn kit that was hovering around me. I was trying to figure out if it was anybody I like to watch.

Second hour when it started to hurt, I got on youtube and watched some GCN stuff.

I have the varia paired, power meter, cadence, and heart rate to my garmin, with no issues. Sometimes the varia freaks out and disconnects a bunch right at the beginning.

The lights I gave up on. I felt like I had less control over them, the settings to set the lights up were limited, and I kept having issues where the head light would cut off in the middle of the ride with no warning.

The lights can be finicky at times for sure. I usually have to go in and reset them to “auto” for the light network.

I couldn’t do it. I have to watch something even for half an hour.

I do group rides at my target pace. They generally split up into faster and slower groups so I can find a subgroup at the level I want. I find staying near the front, sharing the work, and responding to moves, provides just enough variation in pace and visual and cognitive stimulation to be able to get me through a long workout with the aid of music for harder rides and podcasts or an audiobook for easier ones.

It’s 9F outside and the streets are still icy from yesterday.

Plan is for more fake miles in the basement. Stupid winter.

you were 2 hours late.

My day hasn't started well. I had a poop bag failure today and me and #2 met. It was an unpleasant meeting (no pics). Then after I properly cleaned up and fed Roscoe, I began coffee prep. Scale batteries were dead so I had to freelance the coffee amount. It takes 4 AAA batteries. Coffee is ok but it was a bad way to start out the day.

Good news is I still don't have omicron symptoms. :bday:

I'd rather watch NFL football than that stupidity.

Move to Northwest Metro Atlanta and you could be my PCP and we could be riding buddies. That would require an e-bike for me and a witch doctor miracle. It would be cool slamming down copious amounts of sofritas and making fun of Vol.:thumb:

Benson and I had already had a 45 minute walk in the -3F sunshine, by 8:30. Followed some tracks a fox left in the snow. Saw a deer in the alfalfa field. :)
