November in Tucson on the Rillito |

It's been raining a quite a bit the last several days but I have been able to get in 30 to 40 minute rides when there's a break in rain showers. Rode past this cool golden display of late fall leaves. Had to stop for photo. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...802efc240c.jpg From yesterday's short ride. This is a 1994 Gary Fisher Hoo Koo E Koo. Once I raised the bars up to my preferences I'm finding this to be a very good riding bike. It's just fun to ride. |

Got out today in Boston suburbs with three friends, all of us on old Brit steel. I was on my ‘61 Hetchins:

Got a nice late November day to burn some turkey. 40 degrees at the start, 55 degrees at the finish. Rode 56 miles up to Rondout.
Clear blue sky, all the plants have been killed off by frost. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...3579aed7_k.jpg Took a shortcut under the Interstate. Anther chill ride on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. A picture that I missed was of some poor kid who’s dad just got him a new BMW M 1000 and where I had stopped to take a picture they pulled in behind me. I heard a crunch, turned around, and there was this kid of about 16-17 years and 120 pounds standing beside his new bike which had tipped over. The dad, a buddy, and the kid struggled to pick the bike up. Scary sh__!

Short cold windy snowy first of real real Winter ride. Just a bit of riding locally on back trails and roads.

Quick shakedown on new townie build. The usual experience: bars slipped, brake levers rattled, needed more b-tension. Beautiful sky, though.

Took both of my 3 speed bikes out for a ride this morning in downtown Birmingham. 1984 Vista Cavalier and 1965 Schwinn Racer.

Back to Black Creek Park this morning for a another ride on the Cain Creek Rails to Trails. Also rode the paths around the dog park and children's park.
'93 Diamond Back Sorrento this time out. I put new shifters on it (first time doing that) and wanted a test ride to see how they were. Another test ride to determine whether a Centurion Elite 12 is faster than a steam train. If it's a holiday-themed steam train, the answer is yes. Passing one, however, is painfully loud! I did manage to get out in front in time to get my lobster gloves off and snap a pic.

Recent rains cancelled my group ride but it was too nice not to get out. Low wind and warmer temps today turned the bay into a fog machine. Headed out with the intent of getting bike and bridges photos but sharing here also.

I am a couple days late, but I thought I would share a few pics from Sunday’s ride. I wasn’t expecting to ride since the weather report called for rain, but there was a break in the storm and it turned out to be a beautiful sunny afternoon. I took my rust-proof Merlin and I got in about 25 miles along one of my regular loops.
First stop: Missing Link Bicycle Co-Op. Sadly, they are closing their doors permanently soon. A big loss. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...cc52e5efa.jpeg Along my way up Tunnel Rd climb, I ran into bikingshearer on his beautiful Eisentraut headed down the hill. We had a nice chat. I forgot to mention to him that about a quarter mile down the road I cleared a very large branch that was stretched all the way across the lane in the downhill direction, just after a blind corner. I like to think that I definitely saved Rich’s life—and more importantly, his Eisentraut. ;) https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...5249ff37e.jpeg An obligatory view of the SF Bay… https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...31abfde25.jpeg A view of the hills in Tilden Park with a peek-a-boo view of Lake Anza in the distance bellow. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...9163aacd7.jpeg And a final behind-the-bar shot as I made my way home through the Westbrea neighborhood shopping district. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...d03d9a063.jpeg |

https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...3edade6169.jpg On yesterday's ride through a wooded area with a nice bike path I expect to see critters every now and then. I do not think this particular rabbit is native to the area. Ha! This is how it was beside the trail with the Santa hat on it. Perhaps someone received it for an early Christmas gift and did not care for it and wanted to get it far away from their house. At any rate I thought it a peculiar sight to see while pedaling along on a nice autumn morning. The bike of choice was my 44 year old 650b Peugeot. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...84f562cb0c.jpg |
