Yes, that’s why I was asking.

On their site, most Contis are on sale. GP 5000 is 2 for 98.
edit: checked sizes and all they had were 28s. edit again. 2 packs, only 28s, but if you buy singles for $53, they have 23 and 25.?

I got some GP5000s recently from Bike Closet, including a replacement for the 25 in the Litespeed that got all cut to crap. They're selling them between $43 and $50 depending on size.

EDIT: 23s are $43, 25s are $45, everything bigger is $50, but the 28s are out of stock. This is for clinchers. TRs are SUBSTANTIALLY more.

BikeTiresDirect and Bike Closet also often have good sales on Continental tires

I purchased GP5000's and GP4S on a July 4 sale - maybe next big sale will be around Labor Day ?

I need 2 25 and 2 32, I found 2 32 for 70 yesterday on amazon and now I can’t find them, I’ll keep hunting.

This, BTW, is one problem with having so many bikes - I can't afford new shoes for all of them. So I put GP5000s on the Litespeed and the Canyon, regular Grand Prix's on the Battaglin and the Ritchey, and last generation Vittoria Corsas ($33 each) on the Bianchi and the Schwinn. I shop the sales.

Mrs. GJ, in our now slightly more urgent search for a place to retire, has fixated on Poughkeepsie. A friend's daughter recently graduated from Vassar, and must have told Mrs. GJ that it looked like a nice place, but I know nothing about it. Anyone have insight?

Ha!

Actually only the one way. The auto parts place was downtown, near the lake, and I was living East of Cornell about a mile. Coming back was definitely uphill. I actually stopped at a friend's house for a glass of water.

Yea, it’s unfortunate that two of my bikes needs tires at the same time. In other news the ritchey will be getting a power meter soon, I think.

It’s halfway between Albany and NYC. What’s the attraction??

FWIW many folks around here retire to Sussex county, Delaware. Cost of living and taxes are low, medical infrastructure is decent, no sales tax. It’s way too flat for a serious climber but the roads are of good quality.

I don't know. Like I said, a friend's daughter went to Vassar and that friend must have said it's cute or something.

Hey, at least it's not Buffalo.

Any thoughts on the Conti Grand prix 4 season tires? Can’t find a good deal on GP5000 so I’m considering these for the ritchey.

Have them for the Sirrus in 28s. They ride nice, but are not 5000s perhaps a little more durable. Probably just fine on the Ritchey. .

bampilot06 08-15-22 06:39 PM

Similar to mojo questions. The ritchey is 9 speed ultegra, on pro mavic something something rims.
If I put new 105 on it, would the 11 speed cassette fit?

Also, I can never figure out what bb I would need if I did buy the new group set. It was built in 2001, steel. The BB looks tiny.

Thinking some more about it, Bam's results wouldn't mean much to you. Unless you guys happen to have the same freehub bodies on your wheels.

Yeah, I’m not sure what hubs are on the Sirrus wheels, but I have a set of wheels that will handle the 11-speed cassette.

I overnighted in Ithaca a lot. That was one place I wish I had access to a bike.

Ouch ! I had one of those, it was very nice.

So merlin is out of 105 rim groupo with 175mm
Ebay has a bunch, but the sellers are all from China. Seems like some don’t allow returns. Chances of them being knock offs?

That's why, when I was buying the R8000 bits for the Litespeed, I selected "North America Only" in the filters on Ebay.

Probably need a BSA/English threaded BB for Shimano Hollowtech II.

genejockey 08-15-22 07:20 PM

I think mine is an SM-BBR60 on the Litespeed. British threaded, external cups.
