They put a charcoal colored glaze over the base paint. They wanted her here when they did the glaze since it can be either more or less, and you can adjust it before spraying the final clear coat. She had meetings Thursday afternoon, and couldn’t be at home when they did It, so they sprayed the clear on my approval. For the cost, we both needed to be happy. The painters were actually really good about it, and didn’t complain one bit. It’s a local contractor in a smaller town, and we have lots of common connections with the owner, so it’s just a matter of being nice and not demanding or being an arse about things. I actually have more work for them on another project.

At our last house, we spent a fortune in 2005 replacing all of our trim and doors with solid oak. One of the first things the new owners did, was paint everything white. Considering that all things are cyclical, that painted oak trim and painted solid oak doors will be trash down the road.
