Free Jersey - with a catch
I just received my refund from an Ebay seller who doesn't want to bother with the return of this jersey. I don't want to make a monetary gain off this because it was an unfortunate thing, but the sizing of this jersey is really odd and I can't use it because it's trying to strangle me. It is marked XL but the seller considered it a L. Anyway, please consider the following measurements carefully to determine whether or not they apply to your physique:
Chest, pit-to-pit: 22" Length down back, collar to hem: 29" Sleeves, pit to hem: 8" Neck opening: 14" That's right - fourteen inches, and barely that. The material is a cotton/acrylic blend, so not anywhere near as stretchy as modern Lycra/Spandex. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...48d358f6b5.jpg The catch? You have to post a photo of you wearing it on this thread once it arrives - I want proof there is actually a human for which this set of dimensions would work :) DD |
If I pulled that thing over my head, I'm pretty sure the neck opening would become larger than 14 inches.
I'd probably cut it off and use it as a buff. |
Do we know what the mark means?
If my head wasn't so big I would give it a go... |
looks like a good candidate to cut and add a zipper at the neck..

I would think a seamstress/tailor could put an upside down V made of lycra (actually this ^ orentation) in the back of the neck/collar area. If it fit every other way and it was a "home" bike shop jersey I'd go the extra mile.

Jersey looks perfect for that guy from the Beetlejuice movie. I don't know if he's 'on here' or if he cycles though.

Pencil neck geek candidate? Hmm, I might resemble that remark.

If you mean the logo, it stands for Island Triathlon and Bike in Hawaii. They were my go-to shop when I was stationed on Oahu from '96 to '99, which made part of buying the jersey a sentimental thing. But it fails me in its primary mission, so out the door it goes. Maybe.

That was my guess! Their shop downsized considerably a few months ago (prior to COVID) but they still operate a small parts and service space on Kapahulu Ave.
Miss those days - I never, ever got bored of riding my bikes in Hawaii :) DD |
So it is true: with these dimensions, I can't even give this jersey away.

I mean... I'm not in the market for this jersey, but even if I were (I'd probably just wear it with the zipper open), I'm not willing to post a pic of myself being strangled by it. If you make that optional, it will be gone quickly, no doubt.
|
I'll do it. Send that jersey back where it came from.

If it said “T&A....”

Jersey is spoken for - thanks everybody.

Too bad, I wanted to see a pic of Robbie wearing it.

Drum roll...
https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...c40a42daa9.jpg Got it in the mail yesterday. Thanks Drillium Dude . This is the smaller space two doors down from the prior location. Like many bikes shops recently, IT&B only survived because they downsized. The jersey fits well, albeit with the zipper open part way. Shoots! |
That's awesome! Too bad about the neck limitation, but to be expected.
Thanks for the photo; brings back many fond memories of cycling the Aloha State for 4 years on the US Navy's dime :) DD |
