18-spot out and about. consciously mixing in a few more muurs to make up for a lack of mileage lately.

Ningguo Temple, Shanghai

Another absolute scorcher today. Air temperature of 36 degrees with humidity of 70% making it feel well over 50. Had to keep it short and sweat today as a result.

jaxgtr 07-30-21 02:46 PM

31 miles outside today.....caught it while it was a little overcast and it helped reduce the heat from the morning sun.

Last Ride of July

I did my morning 50km.

First time in a long while when I didn't feel totally spent at the end of the ride. Feeling stronger!

Cycling879 07-31-21 07:53 AM

Slow and easy 20 miles O.D.

jaxgtr 07-31-21 10:27 AM

life sucking heat/humidity brought along it's ugly cousin, wind.....got 25 in before I called it a morning. Now I get to put down floors in my wife's craft room.

kahn 07-31-21 10:34 AM

15.4 and about 600 feet of gain. Out early to beat the heat and after 45 or 46 or 47 days of no rain - guess what!!!! Well, it spit heavily for a while obscuring vision a bit but than seemed to have stopped. I presume it was NOT measurable rain. The streak will continue.

Troul 07-31-21 12:37 PM

129 Miles O.D. I'm having a taco.

The Chemist 07-31-21 07:33 PM

115 very tough km in energy sapping heat and humidity.

Stopped at 90km for an ice-cream and a beer and that gave me the needed energy to get home. 😁

I remember desserts being in short supply in China. Sliced fruit yes. Chocolate cake or ice cream - NO! But I'm sure there are places if you know where to go.

technology makes obtaining those formerly hard to get consumables rather an non-issue these days. It may or may not be 100% natural, but it'll make a turd.

A 30 miler cut short by 4 miles because of lightning and T-storms.

Be careful! Glad you lived to tell the tale.

Kneez 08-01-21 12:28 AM

68km early this morning but it was a tough ride. I didn't get enough sleep and the humidity was daunting. I felt heavy and sluggish the whole ride. There were some nice moments though. I rode for a bit on the west bank of the river so I saw the sun rise over the mountains on the east side. That was cool.

If I had a beer during a ride like that, I wouldn't make it home at all!

If you're here in the summer, every convenience store has ice cream. In the winter, some places do stop selling it so it may be a bit harder to find, but the big name convenience stores carry it year round.

I'd float back from the sweet suds concoction!

kahn 08-01-21 11:08 AM

22.7, with 1,000 gain. No drizzle this morning. Reddish sky but the air quality is still fine in Seattle. The smoke is UP high.

Troul 08-01-21 05:17 PM

36 Miles O.D.

Grotug 08-01-21 07:18 PM

I rode 110 miles with 13,000+ feet of climbing yesterday.

Gonzo Bob 08-01-21 07:23 PM

27 official club miles. But I also rode to/from the start since it was only ~2.5 miles from my house, so I claim 32 miles.

mschwett 08-01-21 07:59 PM

57.6 yesterday, around 5,000 feet vertical. Interesting day for it with very variable (but generally favorable) weather!
