Front Wheel Becomes Off Centered During Ride
 

As I mentioned in a previous thread, I recently got a new set of (tubeless) wheels for my singlespeed cross bike. They've been great except for one issue which I'm hoping to resolve. The front wheel has become so off-centered during some of my rides that I have to disconnect my front brake until I can get to my 15 mm wrenches. Has anyone experienced this issue? For the record, I tightened my stock wheel with a stub wrench and never had any issues with the wheel becoming off-centered during my rides. With my new wheel, I'm using a pedal wrench with a lot more torque to tighten down the front wheel. Is it just a matter of making the front wheel as tight as possible? Or is something else causing my front wheel to become off-centered during my rides? Thanks

It sounds like you're not getting the wheel fully seated in the dropouts before you tighten it. Probably best to have the bike resting on the wheel when you do so.

Are the axles the same diameter as the old ones? Is the hub spacing the same? Do the axle nuts have a textured or ribbed clamping surface?

If you loosen the bolts on both sides, and simply sit the fork on the axle with the wheel on the ground, then is the wheel centered?

If off center, what if you remove the wheel and turn it around 180 degrees (left side goes to right)? Still off center? Same or opposite side?

The pattern can vary., but most track nuts have some kind of a knurled contact surface for more bite on the dropouts.
