Oh, and todays ride I felt 100 percent again. Ended up running into the scalpers and basically just pulled the whole time. Went down 143 all the way to Yorktown and was holding 24-26 mph the whole time. Felt pretty awesome. I did burn up all my fuel. I dropped the scalpers off at Yorktown and had to ride back to Willyburg and I was done. My legs have never felt so spent. I wanted to make the call of shame so badÖÖ..

The seas are dangerous. When you head out, you have to be prepared to be fully self-sustaining, and prepared for any risk.

The reasons for turning around would be either damage to the boat, or one of the crew was injured, became seriously Iíll, or, God forbid, died. It could also be an onshore family emergency, but that would not be as likely.

I donít either, but that one stood out.

A lot has changed. Plano is now home to a lot of big companies. Itís rather cosmopolitan now.

Dude! Everyday I have to turn around and go check my house to make sure I shut the garage door. Itís really bad. The best is when I turn around and then forget to look so I have to turn around a second time.

There is no hope for me.

Iíve solved that problem - I now sit in the driveway until I see the door hit the ground. Then I wait a few minutes to make sure it doesnít reverse itself.

Three boats.

The cat was not in their class, so that is probably withdrawing for a different reason. Restive and Jettie could have collided with damage to both boats. Or, they could all be returning for different reasons.

It’s not unusual for boats to withdraw in ocean races. They get damaged, have equipment failures, and people get hurt.

Mo will have to tell us.

Ive tried this. I get to the end of my neighborhood and I convince myself I forgot to close it. I even tried in enlist the help of my daughter. When I ask her if I shut the garage door she never answers Yes with confidence.

$43 + shipping - https://www.wyze.com/products/wyze-g...41943403790498

It uses a camera and a pinch of AI to tell if you garage is open, you can control it remotely, it can send notifications, etc.

The doc put me on a two month run of this cinnarizine. I've done about three weeks, forgetting a lot, so just 17 pills. But I'm not noticing the tinnitus as much as before. I'll keep you posted.

I have a camera in my garage for this purpose, but itís honestly easier to just turn around.

Two weeks ago, I came down at 4 am to do my riding thing. Both doors were open! :twitchy:

All three bikes were where they were supposed to be, I didnít check anything else. I still have no idea how that happened.

But it obviously doesn't have notifications... :innocent:

If you scroll back on the time to about 0820 today you can rule out a collosion betweent the two. The Restive was a number of "nm" ahead of the Jettie. It turned around first.

I'm sure he'll inform us first as soon as he's onshore.

I didnít look into details. Weíll find out what happened soon enough.

Busy day. Awoke at 4 for ride at 6AM. Plan was to do 3 50 mile loops for 150 total. But the pace was a smidge faster than ideal and the wind was strong (15MPH) so although I felt just ok after 100 miles, I was sure I would be in a ton of hurt for the last 50. So I called it a century. Still respectable. Came home and crashed for a couple hours.

Speaking of crash, a clubmate on a different ride went down hard. I am told his pedal came off. I know he just came back here from Arizona, so I am suspecting the pedal was not torqued enough, but not positive. He was apparently unconscious for a minute but came to before the ambulance came. He is at the hospital but I am told no life threatening injuries.

Tomorrow we have a short ride, then heading to NJ for Father’s Day. My dad is 88, so I don’t know how many more Father’s Days he has left.

Re: third water bottle: find water stops frequently enough so two bottles are enough. If you really need a lot of water you can consider the dreaded camelbak.
