1996 Diamondback Response SE

Hi All, picked this up (a barn Carriage house find!) and it looks original, but it's not something I think I'll hang on to, so, looking for an estimate on value. Bike needs a cleaning, but shifts and brakes fine. Tires are original and kind of bluish in color along with the grips. Feels pretty light for a 19" bike!
Thanks for any feedback!https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...c1a52384d8.jpg

In my market, $100 with new cables / housing and in good working order. This is assuming the suspension is not bad.

It's a rider and not a collectible bike.

Thanks Katsup. Id probably get more if I part it out.

Ahoy, I'd be interested in picking this up as-is for $100. Wanted to PM you but I just joined. Let me know, thanks.

Great condition for a 20 - something year old aluminum bike

Thanks DMC707, I thought so too. After some additional research, looks like this bike was around $800 new. It's original down to the tires (for good or for bad). Lots of good quality parts. I think I'll strip it down as I have other projects I could use some of the parts for, then sell the frame.

Cheers!

Hey Fredzyn2, thanks, but I'm going to hang on to it.

Welcome to the Forum!

Cheers.....

OK cool, thanks. Your discovery of what you have, so to speak, saves me from marital drama.

This was my first mountain bike, though I guess mine was a lower trim version. Definitely the same frame, graphics, seat/cockpit, but mine had a rigid cro-mo fork, Alivio components and blue Tioga Psycho tires. A close friend still has the bike and it's in decent shape, but with boring black grips and tires now. He won't give it back to me.

Do you still have this bike intact? If so, id be interested in buying it.

Shimano STX was pretty far down the hierachy in 1996, 5th in the ATB groups. It's also not the full group, with a least a brakeset, crankset and Gripshift cost concession. Still, it's solid, function equipment and in very good condition. Replacement elastomers are available for the Rock Shock Quadra 5 if needed. This model would have originally sold in the $750-$800 range. I'd be a little more generous in the evaluation, given the proximity to Boston, adding about $25.

I don't believe I can. When I try, the system responds with...

Nope. I see that I have a message, but I still can't access it or respond. Maybe I should just post something seven more times. :-)

Do you still have this bike? If so, I would like to purchase if it is for sale. Thank you!

This seems minor but the front tire is mounted backwards. Nicely cleaned up and serviced I would say $150 or so on value.

MarkusT 01-04-22 01:31 PM

Hi keeney50, it was sold a while back. someone got a good deal!
