Holy crap.

What’s the protocol for a fallen pope?

Yeah, coasting came to mind, too. Too soon. Too soon.

I was wondering why he didn't respond to my post on his FB page yesterday. I had a weird feeling. Now I feel kinda sick. Awful news.

abshipp 06-25-20 08:10 AM

This is horrible. A sad day for sure.

pgoat 06-25-20 09:11 AM

I just started a thread in Regional/Northeast. Living as close as we did I always hoped I'd get to meet & ride or even jam with Pete one day. This is so awful.

You're right, It's not.

Then again, being well familiar with PCad's courageous voice and principled stance, would perhaps want someone to point out the ongoing idiocy of a news report of incidents like this stating "Police on scene say the unidentified bicyclist was wearing a helmet."

Had it not been so, they could absolve the motorist outright. End of story. Nothing to see here. But we all know that. Sometimes it helps to say it out loud.

BillyD 06-25-20 10:05 AM

Such a tragic loss of life, Pcad was one of a kind.

Rest in peace, Pcad!

Was there even a motorist involved? The article only mentioned an SUV.

Bah Humbug 06-25-20 10:36 AM

Ugh... I am having trouble concentrating at work now.

I do remember this unofficial protocol for a fallen pope:

Sorry to hear about pcad. That’s not the way any one of us should go. Prayers go out to his family and friends.

I hate when they do that.

rjones28 06-25-20 12:45 PM

To quote patentcad , "no summons will be issued."

datlas 06-25-20 01:20 PM

Haven't been here in a while but what a ****ty day to return to check on Addiction. I'd recommend not looking at that video, to be honest. I did, and it's very upsetting if you don't know the person involved. Since we all know him, it's far worse.

Sorry to say I just heard that yesterday Pcad was killed cycling

I was out hiking in the back country in upstate NY where I live when I posted this. I turned my phone on at the summit of a mountain to check texts from my wife and my phone blew up with calls and texts from some of our teammates. Didn't read through to see the news was already on here.

We appreciate you thinking of us, and dropping in to let us know.

On a more cheerful note, today I had my wife's car detailed by a guy who came by Metro and bus with his stuff in a cart and did a meticulous job for 75 bucks (I gave him 80). We had a long conversation about current events and how to stay healthy in the heat. It was pleasant just to schmooze with a stranger for the first time in ages. Then wife put the cover I bought her for her birthday on the car. Yes, that's what she asked for. Our parking pad is under the power and FO lines to the house and birds **** all over her car.
