We’re doing a 66 miler today for our club’s annual ride. We’re not up to the century because we’re old, it’s too hot, my left wrist is still bunged up (9 weeks) and I seem to have tendinitis or something in my right triceps near the elbow. Hoping that ibuprofen and bio-freeze gets me through the ride.

No, I'm not there, but I am here.

Feel your pain. Pulled a chest wall muscle Thursday. Can't take ibuprofen though. So anxious to see how it goes today.

Cranksets don't care. The Chorus crank will be fine.

Tandem or half-bikes?

Do you know what the difference is between the 10 and 11 speed cranks? Will the old Record rings fit on the 11 crank?

I don't know the technical difference, just that it is slight enough that they are cross-compatible. As for the rings, Campy should fit Campy, as long as the BCD is the same. That may be a fit-it-to-be-sure situation though.

Public Service Announcement

Anytime you hear the words "all you gotta do" from your LSS regarding fixing or changing something, you are pretty much guaranteed to become the suffering spouse.

That is all. :(

 When I hear that or "it should be easy..." I always kick it back like, "oh, cool - you shouldn't have any problem with it, then!"

Of course, this is usually only said on days where I already have low expectations of nookie.

Funnily enough, my ride for today has been delayed for an almost diametrically opposite reason.

Last ride in VA today. Still dragging a bit, but took a little KOM that I was aiming at. Felt too easy to stand for long, but the previous had been in place for 5 years, so who knows. Anyway, the wide open roads have been nice, but I'm looking forward to going home and riding at <90% humidity.

Yeah I woke up at 0400 and though about doing a moonlight ride for a minute, but figured I'd wait til sunrise, but fell asleep again and just woke up and it's too hot to start a ride now :(

Funny how it's always "all YOU gotta do", and never "all I gotta do"

I might ride the fat bike around the park before breakfast.

There is a Saturn forums, in case anyone is wondering.

I just posted in there yesterday about changing the manual transmission fluid. The owner's manual says change at 30K and never again. So I am at 190K and last change was 160K ago. Works fine. But apparently that may not be correct?

It may not be necessary but if it bothers you, change it. New fresh oil can't hurt anything.

Some manual transmissions use ATF instead of gear oil. If I was going to change the oil on a manual trans, (I never have) it would be one with ATF.

I always heard that argument with higher mileage automatics. That the extra material in the oil provided friction. But What would that do to the bushings and bearings?

Is one effect double posting?

I think these people are gambling that they will be able to avoid contracting the disease. I think we are going to be dealing with this for generations. They aren't getting away from it.
even if/when the vaccines are approved they will still say it's a rubber stamp. Conspiracies everywhere. Can't be trusted.

I need to run less or more. Holy crap my legs are trashed.
