Yesterday I finally got around to calculating the grade of my driveway, because this bad boy is the primary reason we need to relocate. As we get older it’s just too hazardous to keep cleared in the winter. So I dragged out the self leveling laser and the tape rule and calculated the driveway to have a grade of 25%. Needles to say I’ve never attempted to ride up there even though it’s only about 50’ long. #kneebuster

Eeeyikes! No thank you. That's a case for a heating system.

Up from the street or down from the street - not that it really matters.

I've swapped bikes with a friend of mine, we ride the same size and similar set ups, his C40 with Record is a fun ride. Apparently computer programmer's ride Colnagos.

Uggh. Nasty.

I briefly lived in a place in Portland where the street was a 10% downhill into our driveway which was a 20% uphill. Got pretty sketchy in the snow and ice.

My roommate had a rear wheel drive Nissan Hardbody and couldn't get out of the driveway and headed up the hill. So he figured he would go all the way down the hill first to get a running start. His truck sat parked at the bottom of the hill for 3 days. :)

I was able to get out with my front wheel drive Toyota Corolla hatchback, but damn near took out the mailbox on the way back home one night.

These days I plan my longer ride around available hydration. Velo Vol would not approve :innocent:

Not this one, but I would.

I have a couple hundred miles on them now, and really do like them. The DT Swiss hubs are smooth, build is excellent, the weight is, well, light, they behave well in the wind and look great. So yes they are treating me well. :thumb:

Sounds like you need an awesome shovel.

LesterOfPuppets 07-25-20 02:25 PM

How 'bout those Brewers?!!!!!

The last Spring training game we saw was the Brewers and I'd managed to snag some seats up front so I got to say "Must be in the front row!"

Storm blowing in from the South. Longsleeves on.

seedsbelize 07-25-20 02:40 PM

We continue to have a coolish, rainy summer. Daily rain is "the norm", or used to be. Hasn't been so in the twelve years we've lived here. Such a treat to have a storm blow through every afternoon. It doesn't always rain, but it does always cool down. And it cools down from being not very hot in the first place. Thus the longsleeves.

Not super hot here, but monsoon season is here, so more humid than normal.

Fairly sultry weather for the morning ride. I brought 3 litres of water on my back.

Cool pic. Almost looks like a movie set with a painted background.

Up. Winter fun, and that's with 4WD.

You gotta have a sense of humor in the winter here.

Man that's a lot to unpack there.

650b(?) IGH conversion with handlebars to that would make Grant Peterson happy.

AG is once again making noise about gravel bikes.

:bday:

She doesn't really grasp why her SystemSix isn't suitable.
