was supposed to be sunny and 65 today. Neither of those things happened.

Anybody have experience with time trial bikes? Buy new or used? could I just throw aero bars on the madone?

Coach says my next bike purchase should definitely be a TT bike. I am leaning more towards cycle cross if not the emonda. But I think I will just race the C2 for now. Thinking of use. I don’t see myself riding a TT bike for fun, and I don’t see myself doing more than one TT event. Crits and Road is more what I want to do. I would like to do cycle cross in the fall, plus I can use the cycle cross bike on gravel. Not to mention they are a lot cheaper than a TT bike.

They have a bit of a special edition of the Madone for just this use case. The only real difference, as far as I know, is the handle bars - the TT version comes with some bolt-on aero bars. I would imagine that you'd be able to buy them separately.

edit: it's called the Madone Speed. May have been discontinued, but again, look for the bars.

I backed the tension off and nothing happened, not really louder or quieter. I notice it jumping while backpedaling. In the biggest cog, it runs smooth pedaling forward but if I back pedal, it drops down 2 cogs and seems to bind a little regardless of tension

check the hanger alignment

I drove through 3 PA counties yesterday. Pit stop in Monroe.

will do. I’m trying to understand the cycling race scene. He was trying to explain it to me, it sounds like I have to earn points by doing all three events, and I guess the points go to the team. I have things to figure out for sure.

The trek speed concept does look sweet, but I just don’t see hopping on that for fun, and the capital trail isn’t really clear until you get past Charles City.

edit: fun fact, the stupid censor won't let me use the 3 letter word, starting with c and ending with m, that means "combined with" because it's stupid.

what about avec? That should work, no?

Some people love riding those things. I am not one of them, but they are definitely fast, so I deal with it.

I've had the same thought. Pactimo has their best winter long tights at 50% off, but nah.

This year, when the temps started getting down into the upper 40s, I found that if I dressed so that I was comfortable for the first hour or so, I got progressively cold after that, even when going hard, and by the time I got home from a two hr ride, I was pretty unhappy. I am scared of hypothermia, which I have had in the past and is just one mechanical away in this weather, and I took it as nature's of saying, "fake miles for you, old man."

It’s looking more and more as though I am going going to need a Twitter “presence” in order to function professionally in today’s scientific “space,” in other words, ever hire another postdoc. Maybe this is a sign I should retire.

it's vaguely the shape of the USA. I've been wrong before, apparently.

Or maybe just some hair on my head. Never used to get cold when I was working out though…

I hope I never have to sign up for that or facebook to do my job. If that becomes a thing I may be forced to retire too.

Au contraire. It's a map+. You're just irked that I'm sharing data freely with the people, threatening your clients-only business model.

I was jst about to leave work, having completed a bunch of scRNAseq analysis, and I noticed a little distortion in my vision, just below my focal point and a bit to the left. "Is this another ocular migraine?" I asked myself. Spent the nex 5 minutes trying to see it, with little success. Just about the time I decided it wasn't, I realized that it is, indeed, an ocular migraine. So I guess I'mma stay here at work for a while. especially since it's decided to expand right into my focal point.

Should be gon ie in 20 minute or so. The first one freaked me right the f*** out, but everything I read on them says they're nothing to worry about. Just seems like a bad idea, driving at night while having one.
