COuld be a cool coffee run commuter?

Yeah, I know...but a lugged steel frame, shimano 3 speed, solid looking rack, and fenders...the only problem is that it's $500, and you can grab a Schwinn Coffee for $200 less...

Or you could get an old Varsity for tens of dollars.

Yea, we should tell all manufacturers to quit trying since there's still tons of rusted-out schwinns hanging in garages and pawn shops.

Exactly. Why clog landfills w/ the SOS when they could be clogging them w/ innovative and exciting new sh*t.

My garage sale $5 Varsity pulling my garage sale $10 trailer. Works swell for around town utility, hauling and shopping!

I'd get a Kona Africabike instead.

jyossarian 11-13-08 01:05 PM

And if you buy two Africa bikes, Kona donates one to Biketown Africa.

How come these brand new bikes have "vintage" pedals? Am I being OCD (Old Cranky Dodger)?

BigDaddyPete 11-13-08 02:08 PM

Or there's this, although, I'm not sure what it is.

Why do people need a specific new bike for buying coffee? This fashion-accessory fetishization of bikes (here's my bike for going to the bike store; here's my bike for going to the drugstore; here's my bike for going to the post office) is tiresome. Do you have different pairs of shoes for each errand you run?

/oldschool.

I just found it and was interested - I'm more interested in using my two C&V three speeders than buying a new one for that, but hey, whatever turns your crank.

Buglady 11-13-08 03:23 PM

Nice looking bike... just like my 23-year-old Raleigh :D

modernjess 11-13-08 03:43 PM

It's the right idea. Except for the fact that at this very moment in any city on craigslist you can buy any number of wonderful old Schwinns and Raleigh 3 speeds in great shape for the prices in the mid to high 2 digits.

That bike isnt' any better and is asking to be stolen.

What do you mean, you don't know what it is? It says it's a Humber. If memory serves, a humber is what got Bill Clinton in so much trouble.
