Good to see you, gnome

Ah well. Winter is only a few months away.

We had a couple of days in the 70s and one around 81. Itís supposed to be around 67 today and the weather people make it sound like a cold snap. They always do that.

Made my first double shot a few minutes ago and it was a success. :thumb:

We've been hovering around 60 for a few cloudy/rainy days. I swear that the damp air at 60 feels worse than the dry air at 35. Supposed to have 80s by this weekend.

I rode last night at around 60į and was surprisingly comfortable in shorts and short sleeves.

We're well on our way to having a year without summer.

Does the gizmo do Latte art?? I suggest you try to make a bicycle.

I am in desperate need of a ride. My wife took Friday off and I figured that I could ride Sat and Sun, so I busted my hump working on yard/garden stuff, instead. Then Saturday morning came and I didn't suit up because it was one of those days where the threat of rain hung right in front of me... and it kept hanging there, all morning and through the middle of afternoon. Pissed me right off. Sunday was a wash from the get-go - rain from bell to bell.

I had to buy some special short cups for mine, I only had one cup short enough to fit under the machine, but it barely fit, and I couldn't see how much espresso was coming out. So I started timing the shots to 10 seconds.

That worked OK. But what I ultimately ended up doing was getting a set of short clear demitasse cups, so I can see how fast the cup is filling up. With my machine, sometimes you get the steam all at once, and sometimes you have to wait a few seconds. Worst thing you can do with your shots is let 'em run too long, they end up tasting watery.

Cold and damp is the worst. Cold and dry is pleasant. Not that I've experienced either in a long time, but that memory remains intact.

Good morning gnome .
Reminds me it's been quite a while since we've seen any sign of Rowan

In general, you're looking for a ~30 sec extraction for a given shot volume and adjustments to grind (and tamping pressure, to a lesser extent) gets you there. So if you're getting 3oz in 15 seconds, your grind is too coarse and you want a finer grind and/or firmer tamp (the rule of thumb for tamp is ~30 pounds of pressure, but you can adjust up and down a little).

On the positive side, it might kill all the raspberries.

Cycling helmets with a built-in mask.

Claiming the patent now.

NFL testing new protective face masks with surgical or N95 material

The Mrs. tells me we're going to Europe for number 30. Will it be safe to travel a year from now?

Plan it.

Same. Some days are sillier than others.

I already had short cups, no problem there. I tried some pre-ground for espresso stuff from my local shop and it yielded very smooth espresso but did run long - 45 sec. or so for a double shot. It looks like it's ground too fine (to me). Tastes great, though.

Anyway, I'm 5 shots (2 doubles and a single) and I've been up less than 2 hours and slightly wired. I may have to grind up some decaf espresso beans.

As I suspected. New grinder on the way. I had been using my blender up until now, if you can believe that.
