How do the expander plugs work with stuffing bar tape in the ends like if you're wrapping cloth tape top to bottom? I've got an ancient set of rubber Velox ones from my SLT that I have to hammer in when I tuck the ends of the cotton tape in. It's always discouraged me from picking some aluminum ones up, even though they look so good.

Have you reached the point where you would buy a new one immediately if it were lost? If so, how many rides did that take? I think that I reached that point within a few rides. Going on a road ride without it now gives me a minor case of the heebie jeebies.

My wife has been wanting to for years and I have been talking her out of it. I have been hearing bad things about Lasik recently. It can lead to worse eye sight. If my eye sight was bad to the point where I couldn’t fly anymore because of it, then I would consider it.

And then I would embrace the my inner fred and ride with both the radar and a mirror. It's so convenient to not have to turn my head to look back!

It’s not awful. LoP is also correct, not a brew as in beer. More like a weak Kahlua Definitely not a post ride drink IMO. |

I was talking to mrs datlas about the Garmin Varia radar and how a lot of cyclists I know are using it. She actually suggested I go ahead and get one. :bday:
Only question is do I get the RTL510 for $150 or the RTL515 for $200. DCRainmaker says the main benefits are the newer device has bluetooth and maybe a couple extra modes but really not much of a difference so I am inclined to get the 510. Should I start a thread? With a poll??? https://the5krunner.com/2020/05/13/g...pinion-review/ |

I do that! Just bar-end mirrors instead of helmet. Let them call me Fred; no one passes me on my routes other than pacelines.

I made a point if placing the hub label one time. If my felliw wheel builders want to think less of ne for it, so be it.

Always been curious about the bar end ones. The helmet (actually eyeglass) mirror is nice to use since I can sweep my head and get a really good look behind me, but it's annoying that it's tied to my glasses. I've tried the helmet mount option but it puts the mirror in a spot that I don't like. The biggest disadvantage to the glasses mount is that sometimes I want to take my glasses off like if it's raining, and then I lose my mirror at the time when I want it the most!
Another reason to ride early. Most of the time I don’t even get passed once. I’m more worried about someone pulling out into me or right in front of me so I can’t stop in time. Car doors also scare me, which is more of a fear for my bike then myself. |

I have been invited to go on an epic ride with a handful of other cyclists for Friday. I think I will go, but I am askeered. They are serious cyclists and I am a notch or two weaker than most of them. I will certainly load the route into my Garmin in case I get dropped.

No no no, go the OTHER way. Leave yourself no out if you can't hang onto the wheel in front of you. Leave your cell phone at home and feel the motivation.

It's not too bad since there's a really wide shoulder, but it still makes me nervous. |

Me too. They only had one of the model with that sort of valve and they have to match. I have one top like that which I may transfer to one of the new bottles, but it will give me the OCD pruritus.
I don't close the other kind. Incidentally, I am thinking of starting to carry green tea, which I have been using as a stimulant and euphoriant for the past year. I'd love to start slugging that stuff on the second half of a ride long ride. |
