It's always discouraged me from picking some aluminum ones up, even though they look so good.

I always start the wrap at the ends with no insertion when I use expander plugs. Dunno how stuffable the various aluminium expanders are. I have some cheap Nashbar crabon bars that cateyes won't fit into cuz the walls are so thick!

Oh yes. And basically that was after the first ride or two. My actual thoughts are that as great as it is, I hope one day we can get one that connects to a HUD on my visor, and can track not just range but size and direction. In other words, I envy the fighter pilots their systems.

I had to try one.

It’s not awful.

I have a coworker who got it and now suffers from halos and migraines. My eyes are great, thankfully, but I’d think long and hard before going through it if I needed glasses.

I do that! Just bar-end mirrors instead of helmet. Let them call me Fred; no one passes me on my routes other than pacelines.

Not awful is correct, too sweet put on ice and its better, still only ok.

LoP is also correct, not a brew as in beer. More like a weak Kahlua

Definitely not a post ride drink IMO.

It was a drink, before a post ride brew.

Only question is do I get the RTL510 for $150 or the RTL515 for $200. DCRainmaker says the main benefits are the newer device has bluetooth and maybe a couple extra modes but really not much of a difference so I am inclined to get the 510.

Should I start a thread? With a poll???

I just found this. Interesting review:

Always been curious about the bar end ones. The helmet (actually eyeglass) mirror is nice to use since I can sweep my head and get a really good look behind me, but it's annoying that it's tied to my glasses. I've tried the helmet mount option but it puts the mirror in a spot that I don't like. The biggest disadvantage to the glasses mount is that sometimes I want to take my glasses off like if it's raining, and then I lose my mirror at the time when I want it the most!

Another reason to ride early. Most of the time I don’t even get passed once. I’m more worried about someone pulling out into me or right in front of me so I can’t stop in time. Car doors also scare me, which is more of a fear for my bike then myself.

you'll be fine

It's quite common for me once I get a little bit away from my house to not be passed by any cars, no matter the time of day, but unfortunately I live right on a fairly major 55mph road that's unavoidable if I ride from my house.

It's not too bad since there's a really wide shoulder, but it still makes me nervous.

Me too. They only had one of the model with that sort of valve and they have to match. I have one top like that which I may transfer to one of the new bottles, but it will give me the OCD pruritus.

I don't close the other kind.

Incidentally, I am thinking of starting to carry green tea, which I have been using as a stimulant and euphoriant for the past year. I'd love to start slugging that stuff on the second half of a ride long ride.

I tried coffee-flavored beer, back when one of the local brewers made a batch. Nope.
