600mm?

When I have to do a lot of walking like these guys require I leave all that weight home and travel with a much lighter 200-500 f/5.6.

Solo

Went solo Wednesday and again today. I miss the old days of 100 club rides per year so maybe I'll do one if it doesn't rain. Pretty cloudy today.

At least it's not on the roof, like we have here. $15k and the NE lawn still has ruts from the big ol' crane.

We are still finding stuff that has been damaged from the freeze of 2021. We've already replaced the main pool pump and the flow valves initially. Then a few months later we had to replace the booster pump for the cleaner since it leaked. Now, we have to replace the filter because it is leaking from the bottom due to freeze damage. When will it end???

Just got a new cleaner valve in the mail the day before yesterday. Might put it in monday. No proper freeze here, the old one sprang a couple of leaks last year, at which time I painted it with epoxy paint. That only got us another year before a slow drip developed a couple weeks ago, so time for a brand spankin' new one.

Kenny Pickett's hands are too small to be an NFL QB. Discuss.

I don't know who that is, but you just hand shamed them.

My hand is a half-inch bigger than his, without any stretching. And I'm not quite 5'11". His hands be small. Whether that affects his play is a different thing.

Too much excitement this morning. Mrs GJ had the front screen door propped open, but with the front door shut, when a gust of wind blew the front door open. I was in the back of the house, still in my PJs, and I came out to hear her calling Rango and offering him a biscuit. Turns out he'd taken advantage of the open door and was now out on the street side!!! At the busiest time of day along our fairly busy street!!!

BUT it turns out he just sauntered two houses down the street to the house of his little buddy Pepper, his Chihuahua pal, and was trying to figure out how to get in. He came right over to me when I called, and I held him till Mrs. GJ could go get his leash and harness, because you can't drag a Greyhound by a regular collar - unless you want to end up with a collar in your hand and a Greyhound with a nekkid neck.

Whew!!! All's well that ends.

Owls are a favorite of mine. I love to hear them while camping. Back in September there was one in a tree directly above my tent in Cuddebackville, NY. Noisy bugger he was.

That is super cool. Nicely done, Bill!

Indeed, that is a Superb Owl.

I guess All Y'All have never had a rust ring on your eyeball. They use the most badass little grinder to deal with it. Self-powered by giving it a little spin.

Uh, no thanks.

This weekends project.

The large pallet is at least 2 feet taller than I am. And, I'm 6 foot.

What is the correct hand size?

Mmm, cedar. I can practically smell it from here.

I think I am going back to my original plan, not crashing, If I end up getting lapped so be it.

edit: I’ll be like Ricky Bobby after his crash.

I hope he also told you to stay in the drops. The last thing you need is to hook bars. If you've been paying attention, you've seen me speak of workouts done in the drops. I don't have an issue staying in them for a 50-minute crit. Plus, it's better leverage when you need to get someone off of you with your elbow.

I knew this from watching Jeff of NorCal Cycling.

That, and NEVER CHASE TEAMMATES.

he's the best QB from Pitt since Dan Marino and broke all his passing records. He's good and his hand size shouldn't matter.

LAJ 03-04-22 06:34 PM

It seems hand size mattered for like four years. I find it weird, but so are people.

A rust ring? Like a piece of rusted metal? I've had little pieces of rusty metal in my eyes, they came out eventually. I had a piece of gold plated copper get stuck in my eye and had to have a doc remove it. Had molten solder splash in and burn the eye. Of course I've had all automotive fluids in my eyes including battery acid several times. Had a brake bleeder explode and force fluid under my eyelids. Had gasoline forced under them, too.

I was walking in the hills on a windy night and a foxtail blew into my eye and went behind the eye so I couldn't reach it. The next morning enough of it was exposed to yank it out. A similar thing happened to one of my cats and she had to go to the vet to get it out.

I remember you mentioning that in the past and have made a point of spending time in the drops. That shouldn’t be an issue for me.

Just got email that they will be pulling people who have been lapped. I get it, but was hoping they wouldn’t. From the videos I have seen of this course, if you are not in the first group at the start then lapping seems to be a sure thing.

Luckily I’m not officially on the team yet so I have no team mates.
