1. Just going out to get the jabs is exposure (driving clear across town to get a drive-thru jab would've been a limited exposure, but still exposure).
2. Amazon/Whole Foods, curbside pickup, grubhub. I don't even hit the MUP or good MTB trails on weekends, too many people exhaling all over the place.
2. Not for the baseball, but for the inevitable cessation of WFH. But actually doing a group ride again would be fun, and a live baseball game does sound good.

Hard (for me) and hilly group thrash today. The exhaustometer on my watch has been redlined all day.

It was epic. It was cool at the start, but that's expected at 8,000 feet. I let the speedsters go, because I just know better. The folks that tried to hang with them that shouldn't have, started pooping their diapers as I hit the real climb. I'm not fast enough to hang with them, but too fast to roll with the groupetto, so I tend to be in no mans land a lot. At least I was able to pick those guys off. Either way, with about 5 miles to go, the clouds started rolling in, and the wind preceded them out of treeline, so it was hard a lot, but at least with switchbacks, we get a tailwind here and there. Of course, we don't chase clouds, we ride into them, which was handy because you can see which way the wind blows. At the top it was easily a 25mph steady frigid wind, and it was hard to put the clothes I put in the drop bag on both because I was freezing, and the wind would decide to let me know who was boss. Unknown on placing, but I think in the 15th place range, (optimistic) out of almost 50. Such a nasty race, yet we keep coming back.

Corn fields sounded delicious at about 13,000 feet. It was cold in that cloud. I was happy with my choice of clothing until then.

Good Karma to you. Today I went to the club start to ride with a friend who has been rehabbing some injuries and we went with the fast group. After the first climb my friend decided to turn back and go home. I was sorry to see him go. I offered to do whatever ride he wanted and he chose that one. After he left the leaders ramped up the speed. A few of us kept getting dropped but they kept waiting. At the break one of the ladies bought me a snack.:love: After the break she took off with the fastest guys to do some more climbing and the rest of us mortals went home. I'm tired enough.

Breaking news: the Microshift R8 gears on AG's trainer bike actually seem to work reasonably well. I wonder how their 11sp stuff is.

I don't know what the deal is but I climb for poo this year. I don't know what happened,, or changed but i was fine earlier this year in Kentucky. Now I just blow up. As soon as the road goes up, I'm in oxygen debt. It sucks.
all in all was a good ride had some hard fast pulls. Was fun .

The odds of getting sick while getting a shot, even at a place like datlas's virus center, are really low.

Wildfires Rage in Washington State

My hometown, Washington, IL. We have been getting our share of smoke. It may be all in my head, but I swear I smell creosote/wood smoke in the hollows early in the morning.

I would have guessed DC would be the 51st state, but congrats.

I only mounted one of the gatorskins. It does not ride like a garden hose.

The worst was when I took Mom to Walmart for hers back in May. They had people packed in like sardines. I was gonna wait with her but wasn't good with the crowd in there so told her to text me when done, I'm headed outside to drink coffee in the van.
​​​​​​Safeway was much better. Most vaxxers were already jabbed by late June, so not many people back there waiting preshot, and they don't make you wait in the waiting room for 20 mins post shot.

Plus I got the Moderna, which rumour has it does better against Delta than the Phizer Mom got at Wally World.

I'm still going to mostly isolate and/or mask up for quite a while, even after my shot is fully fledged.

The ride is similar bit the grip is better than many garden hoses :)

I got my Modernas at Walmart. There were only a few people in line.
