Saturday I left the group I was with and was caught by some fast riders I know. A guy was trying to stay with them and clearly out of his league because I could drop him on the hills. After the last series of climbs they stopped to wait for their straggler and were surprised to see me first. This Australian guy asked me "What happened to Sal?" "I crushed his soul" was my answer. He looked at me, horrified, "What???" I had to explain it to him, then he laughed. I told him if I'm dropping you in the hills, you're having a bad day.

The one I have now is a different story. He showed up at my door fully grown and he was hunting to survive. He wanted to be outside all day while we were at work so he left the remnants of his activity on the door mat. He's old now and stays in most of the time.

very hot here. I ride early in the morning as I don't do well in the heat. It sucks getting old.

I had intended to climb May Canyon this morning but didn't feel up to it. Instead I went to Santa Clarita and spun around the bike path for two hours. Came home and went shopping and there was a male Karen in the store barking at 2 female employees because he didn't think they were giving him enough attention, or that's what I understood from the old geezer (probably my age).

They didn't have battery powered lawn mowers in the 70's.
