Very nice. What size are the tires? Looks like you have some nice cushion there.

Challenge Paris-Roubaix 27mm. They measure closer to 28.

That's good to know that the frame accommodates a slightly larger tire. Thanks for the info!

I'm thinking about getting a wabi as my first fixie, think they fast and worth the cost? There are a few fixies near me at local bike stores for like 600-700$ but ive heard good things about the wabi from that zach kid on youtube

1b. The Classic wheelset is lighter than the Thunder, but the Thunder is more comfortable. But I'm old, if I were in my 20's or 30's it would not be that noticable. 2. Yes, buy one. 3. Order it today if you want it. If the site says "not available", email them and ask. |

a local bike shop (more like a huge sports store that is eating up local bikes shops but whatever) is offering to order me a track bike/fixie, might do that instead, they dont have an account with wabi. Bike shops are saying its a bad idea to order a bike online, are they lying to me? Im a bad bike mechanic. The sports store said they would build a bike I bought online for about 200 bucks which sounds ridiculous to me

If you don't have any experience buying bikes (in person or online) then yes, maybe buying a bike online for the first time will be overwhelming with regards to purchasing the correct frame size. Especially since it is online and you can't size it in person. If you are familiar with what size you might want (also ask around for references/comparisons here on the forum), then there's no reason to not buy online. Even for the most mechanically challenged, most information can be had on the internet, particularly on Youtube. And as jay4usc mentioned, Wabi's come 90% assembled. I'd avoid huge sport stores like Dick's as their bike skills and knowledge tend to be lacking.

At the top of the Palatka Bridge, 65' high over the St Johns River. This bridge is at the midpoint of my usual ride (we all have one of those" usual rides" I expect) so I get at least that amount of climbing each day or so. We have to work to get any climbing at all in Florida. This Lightning SE is just a great all around single speed road bike, rides nicely in most conditions, geared low enough to jump up these little bridge hills without a thought (45/20) yet can manage a 16 + mph day without feeling spun out. Daily ride for me is 35-45 miles. This bike is running Sram Red brakes, 28 Gatorskins, Titanium BB, Miche Primato Crankset, Thomson carbon seatpost, a mid grade set of Alex Rims on unidentified hubs. Most always my first grab to go riding although I am getting addicted to my Capo lately. |
