Best hippy bike?
 

One of these will become a hippy bike. I’m leaning towards the one speed with flat pedals great with a pair of Chuck Taylors. Since I no longer train on bikes because I’m burned out. The focus of the a bike now is utility like cruising around the campground or cruising to get a 6 pack or a spin to a swimming hole. Maintaining 6 bikes is too expensive and too much of a PITA. Since I’m into walking and hiking now the bike is more for fun. Install the hippy bike with a bag frame and gas tank style bag with the standard seat post bag. Water bottle cages and a nite rider light mount. The stuff I already have no no expenses. A cruiser so to speak. Simplifying activities to where they are actually fun and not a chore. Recharge everything I guess you can say. Focus on one bike the rest are going into storage for my questionable sanity before I go insane :lol:. Going back to the KISS concept, Keep It Simple Stupid. Suggestions?

Found this ice cold renegade I feel obligated to drink it lol. Hiding behind the bottled water.

After a few energy drinks I decided to ride all my bikes so be it. But there will be a hippy bike in the stable.

You should try to recreate the bicycle version of Wyatt's captain america chopper from the Easy Rider movie.

Peter Fonda's character was Wyatt. Dennis Hopper's character was Billy.

Maybe I am taking this too seriously for foo, but this kind of saddens me.

Surely, a real hippy would happily maintain a polygamous and gregarious relationship with several bikes simultaneously.

Also, this is going to require some serious hair growth, probably a beard, a differing state of hygiene, drugs much more serious than beer, and some musical instruments, preferably gourds.

I need to get back to training before I am institutionalized.

What if we’re all institutionalized?

When I lived in MS, the only riding I did was 2 blocks to the gas station for beer or 6 blocks the other direction for cheaper beer when they had it. I got an old Western Flyer cantilever framed 26" cruiser and swapped over the ape hanger and banana seat/sissy bar from a knockoff Stingray. The tires were better on the 20", so I ended up putting a 20 on the front and left the 26" ballooner on the back. It was perfect for running those distances and a case of beer fit perfectly on the handlebar.

You have all of the wrong bikes. You need a Surly bike if you are going to fit in with the hippy culture.

What hippy culture? Hasn't it been moribund if not dead for 40 years.

I don't remember hippies riding bikes, they drove VW vans.... I lived through the whole hippie Era, there's actually a lot I don't remember.... :foo:

Yup, after the drama in my personal life is over nothing bad I’m hitting the bikes. Gravel my favorite then mountain biking, fun cruising fat bike, then the single speed MTB. Then more alternative life style stuff but again my life is weird enough :hug::lol:. So I’m thinking the alternative crowd is trying emulate what I have been doing all along just like many of you have. Or I have been inspired by them. It doesn’t matter we all stick together.

I"m not sure what 'hippy bike' is supposed to mean, but if you just want something for cruising into town, I suggest you put some mustache bars on that single-speed. Shop on etsy for a handcrafted leather holster for either a coffee or in your case a beer

I always feel the best remedy for all my ills is to get outside. I get tired of doing things by myself though. It's always good when you can find some like-minded souls to hang out with. Online is better than nothing, but I do hope you have some buddies nearby to share your adventures with you. Do you belong to any cycling or outdoor clubs?

Every group ride I've ever been on turns into a solo ride as soon as we hit an uphill. Which is fine by me, I can pause and pop in my earbuds and get back to my latest podcast.

I ride to get away from people :lol:. After I decompress I can tolerated humans again.

I wish this advice would have come sooner.....If i can find it, is it too late to stuff it back in? :p

As stated, hippy bikes were not really a thing. At least as far as memory serves. There were banana seat chopsters and ten speeds.

Not so much the frame, but handlebars, saddle and funky looking cranks and such could get you what you're looking for

The most hippy of all hippy bikes is the mid- 90s Gary Fisher Grateful Dead edition of the HKEK.
