My dad died and left me this fully restored 1950 Monark Super Deluxe with Records
Hi everyone,
I am hoping I'm in the right place for advice... my dad passed away recently, and left me this beautiful 1950 Monark Super Deluxe. It was fully restored with all original parts found over years on sites like eBay, etc. I'm wondering how to sell it because I am just back for a week or so taking care of his estate before I fly back home. (Out of U.S.) Any advice would be so appreciated, including value. I was told it is worth around 4500 retail but I don't know. Thanks so much in advance. Josh |
I'm not allowed to post photos of the bike so if you'd like to see photos I think message me?

The Classic and Antique Bicycle Exchange (CABE) is another forum to circulate your listing and solicit advice. This is an example of a relevant thread: https://thecabe.com/forum/threads/qu...bicycle.40495/

Thank you!

That's a lot to handle in one sentence.

Does the bike fit you? If it does, you might regret selling it. Condolences on losing your dad, BTW.

Ah yes it does, but it’s so expensive to ship where I live. :(
I have taken a bike (twice) from US to UK as checked luggage -- it was pretty reasonable. |
That's a beautiful bike. It's obvious that a lot of care went into the restoration.
I have no idea about the value, but I know you're very unlikely to sell it for anywhere near fair market value within a week. Selling a bike like that depends on finding just the right buyer. I think your time might be best spent finding a seller who will take it on consignment. I don't know how to find such a person. |
The Cabe is definitely the place to be for this bike. Condolences.

My condolences. I have no idea what the bike is worth, but the quality and beauty of the restoration make me believe it meant a great deal to your father. I hope you can find a home for it and get a fair price for it.

Sorry to hear about your father's passing. It is obvious that he certainly treasured this bicycle. If you're inclined to part with it, my advice is to not act on that impulse for a good, long time.

Great Gift to a Grandchild.

location?

I see that bike as sculpture and if I had the space and bucks I would buy it for display.
|
Restored?? That bike looks like it never left the box.
|
sorry for your loss, the bike looks very nice, although it's not going to bring anywhere near 4500 dollars. as stated above the cabe or ebay would be your best bet for selling it
