Only had time to get in 24 today. Such is life.

I did the Edmonds Loop from near Greenlake in Seattle. Up to Edmonds partially (only a few miles) on the Interurban Trail. Hit the coffee shop in Edmonds but only picked up a few nuggets for my sustenance. I don't generally do coffee and when I do it is decaf to avoid losing a night's sleep. Can't do caffeine anymore at all. Waterfront where the ferry was just leaving. A long climb out of Edmonds to an intersection called Perrinville. Around and south and then east downhill on exquisite Perkins Way - along a babbling brook to Lake Washington and the world renown Burke Gilman Trail (BGT) which has more roots than a mangrove swamp! South toward the Univ of Washington and then back home. About 38 miles and 1,700 feet of climbing.

This stretch is pretty smooth. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...4a837148bb.jpg Recuperating in the back yard (yes, those are dandelions) before dragging the bike and me up a few steps into the house. |

Was that the notorious HUMIDITY the midwest and east are known for or just plain old RAIN which we are known for? And I've never quite understood why we don't have much humidity but I'm not complaining. I guess out air is not quite hot enough to hold moisture - it just continually falls out of the sky.

Did a fitty. Nice temps and wonderful clouds. Met a very good boy named Bentley during my iced caffeine break.

Kind of artsey. |
67 miles.

Just spent 2 weeks in AK in 50-60 degree temps. My 35 mile NOLA ride today was more uncomfortable than it should have been.
|
Did 65 in life sucking humidity and heat today in the lovely state of Florida. Heat index by the time I got done was 107. This was by far the worse day of riding outdoors I have had in 3 years. I ended up sweating out 8 lbs today, which was just horrible, but luckily the electrolytes I put in my bottles saved me.

I did 42 miles today on a nice warm and sunny day.

56-spot in über-familiar, coastal climes. did not suck.

Today's kind of figure eight route through the UW campus, onto the SR-520 Floating Bridge, the longest floating bridge in the world which was pleasurably traffic free since they were doing work on one end, across Lake Washington around Medina and Hunts Point and home. About 22 miles and about 600 feet of gain.

It might be a good thing that I don't have 4 seasons of warm riding & a scenic local area with good roads to ride on. I'd have a hard time refraining from riding!

Oof! Good for you but oh so hot. I would have turned into a giant cramp sweating that much. Good you drank so much and drink the right stuff.

41.75 miles and ~2000' of climb. Felt a bit chilly as it was in the low 60's to start but was nice and warm at the end. As much as I miss riding in Hawaii, this south Connecticut weather is awesome right now.

Thanks for posting your pictures. It really highlights the beauty of the area and brings life to your routes.
But I digress. I, too, appreciate when folks post pictures of their areas. When I go with a friend there's barely anytime to grab a shot - she keeps on moving, not necessarily fast, just moving. |
6.67 miles
6.67 miles. At age 77, that's enough for one day.
|
30 miles on the levee. I felt much better today than I did yesterday.
|
41 miles in 83 degrees and even a tailwind home from a nice onshore wind. Days like this are just the best!
