Proved how pathetic I really am by doing a ramp test. Only lasted about 23 minutes. FTP at least didn’t slip but remained at 227. Rather discouraging to only get through half the test and have the heart rate red-lining ( 188 ) while gasping for breath. But am still able to do it. Will start a structured training program this winter (for the very first time) and will see if I can improve it.

kicked off the ride with calm winds @ 35F, then the temps took a dive @ 17F. So, all I could chatter was 45 miles. was not an accurate forecast.

Much warmer day. 59 miles.

38 miles... back to the cold mashing of cogs.

So first ride on my Emonda since I replaced my 11 speed Shimano Ultegra with SRAM eTap AXS. Weather was sketchy, heavy clouds, but not nearly as humid as it was Friday. I did not see rain on the radar, so I decided to chance it as the temps, while not low; all the same, I just assume not get rained on. What started out to be a nice ride with the new drive train, about mile 40 miles as I turned into a nasty headwind, my knee started to really bother me. I could not understand why, this bike has been setup since 2015 and I have not touched it, and it has been gloriously comfortable. Then it dawned on me, I got shorter crank arms on the SRAM than I had with the Shimano and I did not adjust my seat post to account for it. So I started reducing the miles back to the house although I did have to crawl over a bridge that is usually a non issue, but I hobbled back into the garage 58.1 miles. Knee is really painful tonight, so I'm having some additional ice cream to go with my Tylenol. Based on how things go this week, this might end up my birthday age ride as I turn 58 on Thursday. Weather is suppose to suck all week except for a couple of day, so will probably rest it for a day and hit the trainer to see how things are.

Can’t go wrong riding with the “Royal We”. But at 1:20AM? We need to talk. ;)
Later in life, when I was commuting into the office, my hours were typically 2 to generally 2...it was a suck job, but you do what you have to do. My commutes in was at 2 am took about 25 mins. |

I went out this morning (Monday) and rode 40 kilometers at Nong Bon park in eastern Bangkok. A warm morning at 27C (80F) with 90% humidity.

The ride started at a cool 39* F but by the end, warmed up to a balmy 40*. Considering the multi-layers, I had to unzip to keep from overheating.

Took the knee for a test drive today after I adjust my seat post and seat a little. Test was good and no knee pain. Did 30 today in some heavy west winds which sucked eggs, but it was at my back on the way back.
Beautiful day at the rail trail today. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...ffe0b4063.jpeg |
32 commuting miles to give me 10000 miles and 500000 ft of gain for year

Temperature 67℉ (cold) @ 12:55AM start today with leg warmers + jacket + gloves on and cooled down a couple more degrees by the time I was done at 30 miles.
The DARK - STAR FILLED SKY was awesome this AM (see above beginning time) and even got to see a shooting STAR ;0) during my 30 miler. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...0b505717f.jpeg |
I rode an hour and 20 in my office and got exactly nowhere. Zero miles. What a waste of effort.

Was out early on Wednesday morning and rode 47 kilometers. Weather was very humid due to yesterday's late afternoon thunderstorm.

We rode the cruisers around town to run errands, and then to see the sunset tonight.

So I went out this morning, notice some clouds building but no rain is expected. Wind is really picking up, becoming really annoying. I stop about 25 miles in, and decide to check the radar on my phone and what do I see to the west of me, but lots of heavy storms and rain coming my way. Luckily, I was doing loops near my house, so did not take that long to get home. So I decided to ride the trainer and some climbing in Italy for a change of pace. The wind killed my legs, that is for sure.
I had 33 miles and lots of wind outside, and 27 miles and 1800 ft of dry climbing inside while it is pouring outside. |
squeezed in 32 at lunch, 1,800 feet. improved my outlook on life quite a bit!

Only rode 37 kilometers Thursday morning but it was a lot nicer. Temperature at 6:30am was 74F but 93% humidity as usual. Had a bit of wind out of the NE as they predict the temps to drop a bit over the coming days.

Rode five miles around the neighborhood on a new bike. Felt great.
