My ritchey has some rust on the chain stay, previous owner must have dropped the chain and pedaled through.

Buy a new bike?

I don't know. I haven't done a letter there in ages. This item needs to get there by September 20.

If you start riding today you might make it.

Aren't all bike lights cordless? Would be tough getting miles if you had to ride plugged in.

Night rider lumina 1100 is on Amazon for $80.

I've got 2 of those in the Planet cyclery cart for $119.90 with tax and shipping.

I think it depends on how long you want to keep the bike. A small amount of rust is not a problem in the short term, but it is NOT going to get better and can get worse with time.

If you plan to keep the bike just for a few more years, I would not worry.

If you plan to keep the bike indefinitely, you need to remove the rust down to the bare metal, clean, and repaint it.

If it were me, I would sand/dremel away the rust, paint with similar color rustoleum and not worry about looks, and cover it with a stainless steel chainstay guard.

Ovo-lacto for 43 years.
I was head cook in a steak house when I made the break.

I just popped over to 'Forum Assistance', and read that the P & R forum is no more. I guess you'll have to take your chances here, datlas

Too bad it's not the censor filter that is no more. Sad!

I don’t want to get rid of it, I wish I could remember if I saw the rust before but I can’t. I’ll have to find the the time to fix it.

I have not taken it apart since I put it together. Little worries the down tube might be rust now too. I hope that is not the case.

Huh? I's not gone. Someone just posed there a few minutes ago.

It was temporarily locked a while back, but it was allowed to continue.

Like datlas said, clean it up, touch it up. You could use a rust inhibitor inside the frame, for extra protection.

I have zero desire to go there. Same thing for trollheim, if that is still around.

I wouldn't say being vegetarian makes you picky. I think being picky makes you picky.

Not sure, but I think so. IIRC one of Dan's friends attempted the KOM on an out and back and missed it because he didn't quite reach the turnaround point.

Yeah. Too much negativity.

I'll finish packing tonight.

Both excited and nervous. At least the weather looks good for the first two days. It sucks to start out in bad weather. In fact, long range forecasts for the places I will be during the first week looks descent. No major rain events. Knock on wood.
