Hi yall, I recently won a $100 Amazon gift card for picking up litter in my community. I'm stumped as to what to pick. Any suggestions? I'm getting a new (modern) bike soon and the Specialized brand racks were out of stock when ordering. I do love my vintage Wald one for reference.

I know it's still August. Winter is coming.

I worked out long ago on this forum that we all have the same basic challenges (comfort vs endurance, fitness or financial or alone-time goals for riding, darkness, inclement weather, clocking in on schedule in appropriate attire) but we all feel their sting or enjoy them to a different degree.

Most of the us giving you advice here are men. Perhaps get a thing that makes it easier for you a lady to do it? Like makeup and hair stuff that will stay put for the ride or be easy to apply at work, a lady's specific seat, etc. A sporty hairdo. Dual use clothes. Ladies sanitary products are always marketed as how you can do anything in them with freedom, but surely some are actually better at it.

An effective cycling rain suit. This lovely weather streak will end……

That's a nice bike in excellent condition. Guessing 27" wheels. I love mixte frames. On the new bike, if you plan to commute on it, I would recommend fenders, not just for rain, but for all the other junk on the road that gets thrown up by the wheels at the rider.

Lights, fenders, waterproof panniers all are very important. imho

@jaxy357, what did you end up spending it on?

I got a bell that matches my new bike, a headlight and a winter cap to wear under my helmet this time. I can't remember what I got for the last gift card lol.

That's a tough one since I already have everything I need for a good long ride.

I was over at Decathlon the other day and saw a bunch of protective equipment. So maybe pads and wraps for all your joints- knees, elbows, wrist and shoulders- for in case of your next fall wherever that may be. Torn clothes can easily be replaced. But scraped and bloody shoulders, knees and elbows can take weeks to heal.
