1995 GT Timberline. Great riding bike that works just fine for the relatively tame Midwest singletrack I frequent. Plus I love the look. |

Newest to oldest ? Current machine the SB 100 which is actually a 120 , followed by my Enduro machine a SB-95 - (140 class bike -- but Yeti's ride bigger than they are -- this critter is still relevant on blues and some blacks ) ---- and the 303 DH which has been archived in my mini museum along with the old Pro FRO - dont know if i'll ever be serious enough about downhill that the SB-95 wont be able to handle it

Did a quick ride today on Ellwood Mesa, on my '04 Spec Epic Comp. Wanted a little acquaintance time with some Chesters I just put on; before heading into the Los Padres back country.
It's served me well and as with all my bikes, it had 'clipless' on it for it's entire time with me - eggbeaters. Due to health issues, I hadn't ridden it for over 3 yrs, but recently things have come around to where I can feel comfortable again. Although.currently I would put myself at the 'I Suck!' skill level. Decided using flats would not only be safer, but more quickly allow me to regain and improve what skills I had. I do like the bike, even though it's clearly old school XC race bred. It will be plenty good until my new Polygon arrives. Ellwood Mesa, my backyard, is 2 houses down the street and where my kids and I spent a ton of time on our bikes. Composed now of Sperling Preserve and a land trust Managed by UCSB, the area is 500+ acres of undeveloped open space, trails, eucalyptus groves, bluffs and ocean shoreline. A Special Place! with a surprising variety of terrain and ecology. I never tire spending time there and learning more about it and the nature's inhabitants. Wintering home to what were hundreds of thousands of Monarch butterflies when I first moved there - they sadly have largely disappeared due to disappearing open space in their migration corridors. A project we're all working to repair/resolve. In the past few years Monarch numbers have plummeted to dismal numbers, hopefully, this can be reversed. Before settlers, the locals were the Chumash Indians. It has an interesting history - Ellwood Mesa - for those inclined and having interest: https://goletahistory.com/whos-ellwood/ https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...5d9fe517a4.jpg '04 Specialized Epic Comp on Ellwood Mesa Anyway, the Chesters are Awesome ! I am stoked to get some skills honed again and get into the places I love! Ride on Yuri |
