Oh so sweet--the only things original are the frame and fork. It went from Nexus 7 to SRAM Auto 2 (coaster), but seriously, what more do you need at the beach, and who wants to bother with shifting with a drink in your hand?

http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=316039 Needs a cup holder. My last one had a nice cup holder... but somebody took that cruiser from me. :( |

Oh, just fine. The doctor said absolutely no weight bearing or lifting with that arm for 6 weeks though, so riding is out for the rest of this month.
When I ride that bike with a group, people think I'm riding a Tall Bike, but now, just a diamond frame and I'm sitting straight up. |
Technically, my Next is a BCSO (Beach Cruiser Shaped Object) since I believe it was originally sold at Costco or something. What the hell, at least it's at the beach. Anyway, a very cheap impulse buy in newish condition at a moving sale.
http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/d...beachcruzr.jpg Anybody know about the 3-speed, coaster-brake Sturmey Archer AWC (II) on this thing? Is it just a cheap, crappy hub or is my problem the shifter? It shifts up in the gears quite easily, but it takes a MIGHTY twist of the grip shift to get this thing to go back down to 2nd or first gear. |

Wow, love the classics! "BCSO (Beach Cruiser Shaped Object)" ;)

Here's my Electra Sunny Garcia with 7-speed Nexus hub. The seat is low because my wife and I share it.

I cruise with it at the beach so I guess that makes it a beach cruiser. Dahon Speed 7 @ Dana Point, CA. |

I'm thinking about getting the same hub for my Schwinn Continental. Will follow the issue with interest. |
Two cruisers that I found in the alley.
Both are cheap piles, but they worked adequately. The bottom one is a Micargi. Needed two tires and a flat black spraycan paint job. The Firmstrong only needed a back tire & the rear hub cleaned, greased and adjusted. Crap, but loveable crap. Both bikes have found new owners. |
Those are some really sweet bikes. This is my wifes Schwinn Windwood. It's only important to me because it ultimately got me into cycling. She had this for a year before I bought a bike and started riding with her. As someone else said, I have not been able to talk her out of the SS and coaster brake! She loves it.

Not a very good pic, but here's my Schwinn Sanctuary parked in the workshop behind my office. I brought it to the office so I could cruise around on lunch hour during the days when I brought lunch to work. Avenir Cruiser Saddle + Tektro front brake + Wald rack + Electra Ape Hangers have made it a very different bike from how it began. :) I've considered going back to the old bars and lowering its profile a little...she could definitely stand to look a little more sleek. Also thought about commuting on her as soon as I add a SA 3-speed IGH. |

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l...psc4d7334c.jpg This is how it came to me, sort of a Repack Hill style thing. I loved it but I couldn't help but add stuff to it. Actually sold it to an off Broadway show. I guess it's famous now. Wish I could remember the name of the play. Blue somethingorother. I was sorta surprised when it showed up. Oh well, I guess that's why I married a short one; http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l...a/DSCN1180.jpg This was fun but I liked my Schwinn better so I sold it; http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l...a/IMG_4406.jpg I'll dig up more later.
