List if you modded it or left it stock. I just bought one over the web and wanted to see what components you guys are using. BTW, I got an Elite.

Here's a vintage one for you. It's a mid-90's carbon and aluminum lugged allez epic that I inherited from a family friend. It has mostly shimano 600 components, which are stock, as far as I know.

Got it from a family friend for 30$ - allez sport, steel; have since changed the pedals, saddle, and wheels/cassette. Thinking about maybe changing to an STI setup, and changing the white bar tape to yellow along with the tires in the same color. White saddle would still be out of place, but I think it'll look awesome. Maybe. Oh, and does anyone have an idea on how much of an increase in efficiency I would see if I were to ride a similar setup minus a bottom bracket that is so rusted nothing at all can be done with it? I had a tune-up recently and they said that it was so rusted that it couldn't be adjusted, and made a comment about how rusted it (the whole bike) was. Don't get me wrong though, love the bike to death, but I want to talk myself into a new bike within the next year or so. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...m/DSC_6226.jpg http://www.bikeforums.net/%5BIMG%5Dh....jpg%5B/IMG%5D |

Allez Sport(?) triple. No real mods other than Ultremo tires, Avatar seat and some pedals. Have some aerobars for TT's and duathlons. ...saving for that 595 ;-) |
Got my rebuild done today.
1997 Specialized Allez Sport (originally Shimano RSX triple), now with a Franken-Campy build: Crank: Campy Centaur UT Compact, 50-34 Bottom Bracket: Campy UT Brifters: Campy Veloce QS Escape FD/RD: Campy Veloce Brakes: Campy Record (I got a deal, what can I say?) Cassette: Veloce 12-25 Wheels: DT Swiss 1.1 rims laced to DT 240S hubs. 28 spoke, 2-cross front, 32 spoke, 3-cross rear Tires: Conti GP 4000 Saddle: Fizik Pave, NOS. Pedals: Look PP 296 Bar tape: All Cinelli. Stem, headset, handlebars and seatpost: All original to the bike as no-name components. And now some photos: One of the last year's Specialized did a traditional geo steel frame. Still have the steel fork that came stock with it on the bike. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3196/...4a24cf.jpg?v=0 Remember the days of tasteful downtube graphics? http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3186/...918df6.jpg?v=0 Skewers by you-know-who, my one concession to bling: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3037/...db0c44.jpg?v=0 Still slightly freaked by this whole "see through BB" nonsense. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3267/...54228c.jpg?v=0 Finally, a word in this thread we've all got in common. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3110/...e4a4e0.jpg?v=0 |

The trek is my dads its the full ultegra group, although it is slightly smoother shifting and group I truly prefer the allez the only negative I can think of is that the wheels could be better. I paid 627 for mine with 2 tubes and the bottle cage thanks to the LBS discount for being under 18. But it was listed at 720 so about the same as the 08.
|
how do u like the different shifters on the 09 ?
|
The only problem i have with my sora shifters is its hard to shift in the drop bar position I am thinking about upgrading...... even tiagra are better...
|
that was my only problem with the bike .. is it expensive to switch ?
