hi, everyone. where are you from, what time for you is the best season cycling outside, or which season you don't cycle and why? would you like to share with me your pictures to cycle in this season in your countries?

I like mid spring, probably May. Early Spring gets me confused what to wear and my camera batteries don't last very long in the cold so I can't ride very far.

Winters have their challenges too but I like them. There is no season in which I don't cycle. I just cycle differently.

Same here. Pretty much every day, maybe less when it’s freezing out or something but even then I try to get some time in on the bike.

When it's warmer than 45 F and cooler than 90 F

Where I live, cycling season is pretty much on hiatus from sometime in May (hopefully late May) until September (hopefully early September). Just too hot. The rest of the year is generally pretty good. It can certainly get cold in December and January but typically not so cold you can't go for an afternoon ride. And spring and fall can be pretty windy. That sucks, but it's still do-able.

Fortunately for me, anytime of the year.

We have a very mild climate here in the Algarve region of Portugal and so ride all year round. In the Summer it can get to 40C+ but that is a dry, rather than humid, heat and lasts about a week or so. Generally Summer is 28-33C with months of mostly cloudless blue sky days. Winter is typically 8-18C, relatively little rain, so very much riding weather.

Favourite season from that? Summer. I like the heat.

when the mud turns to dirt, the attire can be predictable for a long journey, before the dogs get hungry.

I cycle in the NE U.S.

I like all of the seasons, though I admit I cycle less frequently in the winter, partly because of lack of sunlight but mostly due to ice on the roads and, occasionally, a disinclination to gear up to do a ride in cold weather. Also, winter means skiing/showshoeing, with cut into cycling. Each season has its charms, which is why I like living in a temperate region (though it's becoming less temperate as the decades pass).

I live near Minneapolis, Minnesota and I don't know a season or conditions when I will not ride. I always love the first warm rides in the spring and I'll ride as much as possible in the autumn. But I'll ride through the artic cold winter and sweltering summer.

I used to do a lot more winter riding.... As long as the roads were dry and the sun was shining I was OK. Ice or slush on the roads was a deal-breaker. I remember one ride in particular with temps hovering around 0F.

When I lived in Peoria IL the real enemy was the cinders they used on the roads in the wintertime. I had to fix a LOT of punctures! Sadly, the stuff wasn't water soluble like salt is, and the cinders would stick around for months on the shoulder until enough heavy rain eventually washed it away.

I am older now and my eyes are bothered by wind, especially cold wind. It's a symptom of Rosacea, they tell me. I do very little winter riding any more.

I don't ride New England winters, but I agree with you about early spring. It's also the season where the new potholes become apparent and there's a lot of sand and salt still on the road, so riding in wet conditions really makes the gunk stick to the bike. Late spring is wonderful, I'm also ok with heat, so summer's long days are pretty terrific. Fall may be the best around here, though. The leaves are gorgeous and the roads are generally clean. Just need to watch the weather forecasts to avoid rain.

Sure signs of spring around Baltimore: the robins arrive, and broken glass starts showing up in the streets. Never fails.

Best time to ride? When I can.

Hypno - I'm on the other side of the Twin Cities, but I had enough of cold weather biking when I delivered papers at 20 below. I'm more lke MarcusT with a cold cutoff of about 40.

One winter I tried bringing the bike inside on a stand and riding for "exercise." Absolutely makes watching golf on TV seem exciting! I even made a book rack for the handlebars so I could read while "exercising." No go - bike now goes on a storage rack in the garage in late November. Got it down and tuned up 2 weeks ago on an isolated warm day, but it was messy riding with too much snow melt and winter slop for fun. I'm patiently waiting for the day that Real Spring (Not calendar spring) actually comes to MN - maybe this Thursday according to forecasts?

I'm a fat ass polar bear so I prefer my cycling in the spring, fall, and winter. If my preference was going fast and W/kg i'm sure I'f prefer sweating it out in the summer.

A bad day riding is better than a good day at work.

I don't like cycling in the cold so really anything below 50F/10C and I'm rarely out. I like the heat so that's not as much of a problem for me.

SF Bay Area = Year ‘round riding. We’re not getting much rain these days, but I ride through it when it comes.

Nothing but respect for those who gut it out through the harsh winter snow and brutal summer humidity.

Truth is, I'm totally sick of this weather. Yesterday with ice/rain/snow/sleet I rode Zwift because 3 hours cleaning up after an hour ride is a total pain.

I do ride a trainer in the winter months ... mostly for time, it takes a long time to get dressed before and clean up after riding in the winter. My work schedule is busy through the winter, making time limited. So Zwift is my way to keep fitness over the winter when I don't have time to get outside. But when I have the time in my schedule, I'll pick -20F/-30C outdoor ride over Zwift every time! (yes, I'm a nut and I have invest a fair amount in my winter gear to stay comfortable in the deep cold)

Im from Nebr. I love the hot weather of summer. I hate any day the temp is below 60. I dont like to ride bundled up. I prefer shorts, and any T shirt.

September and October in the Northeast are my favorite months, the temperatures are good and the nasty pollen is gone unlike later Feb-May. Plus, the changing tree colors are nice. Winter is my second favorite on decent days
