Ironically neither one of these two NC powerhouses are even IN the Final Four, but their little crosstown buddy NC State is, and they've already upset three higher ranked opponents to get here. So who's next?

Yep, snow on Mt Hamilton today, as predicted. Road closed, hope it’s clear by Saturday, I’m on the Wednesday and Saturday ride schedule.

I stand corrected.

I can confirm, there are palm trees in Detroit that are alive and well.

Jonas is out of the tour. Tradej will have no competition this year. Yawn.

I saw he crashed, didn’t know he was out.

He is? Haven't seen that yet. Plenty of time to heal before the tour.

Ditto.

At least we know he's not a robot (or that's what they say...).

Joking aside, I wish him a speedy recovery. Crashes are never something we want to see in cycling.

Been in DC with the kids since last Friday. We had an amazing time and my wife did an exceptional job of planning everything.
We hit all of the monuments, spent half a day in Arlington, 5 hours in the Holocaust museum, a full day at the museum of natural history. Toured the capital, Supreme Court, Library of Congress, National Archives. We had amazing meals and really enjoyed it. No bike riding was done, but we walked about 50 miles over the week.

We did the same for spring break when the kids were in their early teens. One of our all time favorite vacations. It’s an incredible place.

Broken clavicle and ribs. Left in a stretcher.

You can plan a DC trip that includes cycling and it's family friendly. My daughter & I did the Ride DC event last September and had a great time. Surprisingly with over 8000 riders it thinned out quickly and we didn't feel too boxed in by other riders. They have several starting points based on riders experience.

This isn't us, just an example of "the family plan"

You should have come down to Willyburg and checked out the sights. Even have bikes for you too ride.

We were in Missouri for the 2017 one as well and I didn't really know what to expect but it was definitely one of the most memorable moments in my life.

We're staying with family at a location that is technically in the path of totality, but on the western edge so only about 90 seconds of complete obscuration. If we drive an hour or two east we will be able to get the entire 4 minutes or so which I think is about double what we saw in 2017. I think my family is a little confused as to why we would drive somewhere different, but the next one that crosses the CONUS isn't until 2045 so I'm not going to miss out on an extra 3+ minutes if at all possible.

Rainy again in San Diego. Onto the trainer I go! Just an easy ride today. The Thursday night "world champs" ride was a success, I'm actually glad I went. Windy weather and threat of rain kept the cars off the island I guess. I managed to avoid undue car traffic on the island and get away from the primary group pretty early on.

After some chaos at first, a break of three emerged, which later ballooned up to 5. We stayed away pretty easily and then started attacking each other later on. Did way more than my share of the work. Box checked, now I can skip that ride again until next year :),

I will say - if I had to vote between doing that hammer ride last night and easy this morning VS riding my new MTB last night and doing some zwift racing this morning, I'd say it's about a wash. So the best possible outcome :). It was always going to be a "less than or equal to" situation, and as I rode down there after work, I was this ----||---- close to just turning around and hopping on my new MTB :)
