Introduction, and '83 Colnago restoration
Howdy all,
Created an account and would like to share my just-completed Colnago Superissimo restoration. She was a garage queen for more than two decades and I decided to put her back on the road. Most of the rebuild is how I built the bike back in the day, but tubular rims made no sense today so I dismantled the wheels and had the hubs laced with Velo Orange clincher rims. Bike is surprisingly heavy, but wow does she ride smooth. ETA Okay, can't post pics, so just imagine an old bike here: [🚲] Have a great weekend. Cheers, Rick |

Beautiful! Welcome to the forums. Great looking classic.
I must admit I always get anxious when a see the word Restoration in the first post from a new member. I have visions of someone watching a few episodes of American Restoration and deciding their going to “restore” their dad’s old classic and end up with something like 5 coats of runny fishy eyed paint and crooked decals that don’t come close to original. |
I’m surprised it’s so heavy with that cute little cog set. Maybe shorten the brake cable/housing a bit. :)
Very cool bike. |
Nice bike. Heavy compared to what, a modern bike? That would be apples to oranges doncha know. If you want to make it lighter I’d suggest sending me all your beer.

That is a flawless bike! Cheers, Rick |
Good eye, yes, Modolo CF shifters and Master Pro brakeset.
Was able to find the correct brake pads, still offered by Kool Stop. |
Welcome! And don't be shy about more pics, particularly close-ups. We love pics around here!

Like an old house compared to a new subdivision home, you can see the hands of the person who brazed the frame, polished the crank arms, added the paint details, versus admiring the work of the welding robot. |
