Shimano Clipless Cleat Compatibility PD-5610 vs PD-7000

TL;DR...

Are the old Shimano PD-5610 clipless pedals compatible with the today's PD-R7000 cleats? I'm assuming so?

The background story...

I'm restoring an 80's road bicycle w/ Shimano 105 (1050 group) and while I originally intended to put Shimano 105 toe clip pedals (PD-1050) on the bike because that's what it came with, I hate toe clips and would never actually ride the bike if it had them. :D I then considered just putting modern clipless pedals on the bike (PD-7000), but modern Shimano clipless pedals are carbon and not shiny polished metal, so they'd look out-of-place on my retro build. Enter the old Shimano PD-5610 pedal... a clipless pedal with a polished body that I hope will work with my modern bike shoes in case I actually decide to take the bike for a spin.

They should be, they are SPD-SL.
