New Years Day ride to the summit of Mount Wilson is on and there is also a shorter version with no mountains. I'm tired, it's windy, and I think I'll wuss out and stay home. Happy new year and good health to everyone!

I'm always a little sad when we start a new thread. Thinking of all the quality content i laid down that people will miss. It just motivates me to take it to another level in this thread. Someone's got to do it.

Definitely about hillbilly rivalry.

seedsbelize2 01-01-24 10:46 AM

BillyD is on his game! I can’t remember the last time we had a same day turnover.

seedsbelize2 01-01-24 10:49 AM

My memories, this season, have been from ~65 years ago. Both Christmas and today. Feels good to be able to say that.
How is Trsnrtr doing, I wonder.
^^^^Would that sentence require a question mark? DougRNS aka rpenmanparker

Another blistering day. 84 for the high. And sunny. I may go for a ride. Alan goes back to Spain today, so it will have to be solo.

Usually, when you have a turnover, it means someone's OFF his game.

Or you're eating pastries.

We're dogsitting for our neighbor across the street. A big floofy girl named Coco. Rango's being cranky about it. Follows her around, snarls every so often, etc. Basically, "Get off my lawn!", which is expected since he's an Old. One good thing about both Rango and Coco is that neither of them gave a crap about fireworks. Dory got slightly unnerved, but the fact that the big dogs didn't care helped a lot, I think.

We celebrated New Year quietly, and non-alcoholically - TYB was off with friends, TOB doesn't drink, Mrs. GJ didn't want to, and I wasn't going to open a bottle of Champers just for me. It's weird out here, after growing up Back East. To me, New Years was the ball drop on the Allied Chemical building in Times Square. Out here, they show it on tape delay, so you're watching the New Year start for somebody else, which honestly seems stupid. There's not a similar, universally accepted event on the West Coast.

I completely forgot about midnight. I was too engrossed in “This is Spinal Tap” on TCM. Then I heard celebration from the party across the street and fireworks. At least I wasn’t unconscious on a ventilator like last year, so I’ve got that going for me. :D

Anyone doing the Drift 100 this year? 100 miles/9000' climbing, 48 hours limit, run, bike, or ski.

Went to bed early. Did run though. Still nowhere near right, but wanted to get it in before work starts tomorrow.

Still sick. I slept all day yesterday.woke up this morning thinking that I could eat something but I barely got a muffin and two poached eggs down. Felt sick ever since. Very dizzy and sleepy.
