3Rensho

Is this an $800 bike? No other pics, no info. Sorry and thanks.

Yes!!!

zukahn1 12-18-16 04:30 PM

It looks a little rough for $800 and the fork doesn't seem right. The wheels and drive train look a bit worn with some rust and or dirt and there are some minor details like wrong brake hoods and missing dust caps on the crank. As presented with bad pics in storage locker I would say $600 if you can verify the fork is original and it's a 3 Rensho, with these pics and details I couldn't be 100% sure.

plonz 12-18-16 05:30 PM

The pics do make the fork look a little wonky so check into that.

If it checks out ok, then this is a very good deal. These frames are hard to come by and command big $. Probably a decent component group although I can't make it out. The rims kind of look like Campy Moskva?

Possible gem for that price.

WolfRyder 12-18-16 07:08 PM

Nice color, well the paint certainly looks like a match with the forks. Most the 3renshos I see aren't built up and are smaller size track frames. Larger size not track seems like kinda rare. Whats the size on it, any idea? kinda hard to tell.

sloar 12-18-16 07:31 PM

No other info, I haven't contacted the seller yet. I'm just window shopping right now.

Vonruden 12-18-16 07:37 PM

On 2nd look, need close ups to tell if even a 3Rensho.

Bianchigirll 12-19-16 10:43 AM

I know the brand has a following but I agree $800 seems high. I suspect this was ridden a lot and put up wet so to speak. Back in the '90s when I was in a shop to geeks were notorious for not caring for their bikes so I would expect a full overhaul maybe a new BB, cables etc.

ramzilla 12-19-16 11:19 AM

That's a little high. If it's nice & lightweight (like under 23 lbs). Then maybe worth $350.

DMC707 12-19-16 11:54 AM

Its a steal for $800 if there is no damage and can be validated to be a real 3Rensho

To think its only worth $350 is wild

Not arguing with you at all...just curious...what are you seeing that isn't tracking? I don't know 3rensho well at all, but it looks correct based on that -very- limited knowledge.

The fork crown looks right but the other details are hard to make out with a few low rez photos. The hidden head tube looks to make the frame maybe 56-57. I had a 58 and sold the frame on ebay for north of $500 and it was far from perfect. Larger 3Rensho's don't appear that often from what I have seen. If the details check out and the group/wheels are worth a few hundred then it's an $800 bike. YMMV and the decals on the forks are a bit hmmmmm...

Photos of the the one I had. It had the "plate" in the bottom bracket. Thinnnnnn lugs. @Vonruden do you still have the purple Rensho? That thing is purty.

When the fork isn't an exact match (Did 3Rensho use Scott forks? = IDK);
and when I look at the fork in Pic#2 (maybe an optical illusion);
I would need to hear the story before paying any good money!

The paint color is one I haven't seen on a 3Rensho and the decals look off the fork should have just 3Renshow. Also I would expect to see a 3 Rensho or DA aero stem on this bike.

Hmmmmm...stems come and go, and it could have been bought as a frame. Could be a repaint.

I just thought the fork looked like other 3renshos I've seen, but it's really not my area either.

ramzilla 12-19-16 03:21 PM

Sorry, it just looks way too clapped out to be a $800 bike. Fishy non-drive side picture. Weird forks. Looks like it needs new wheels, paint job, etc. etc. If it's really a super duper 3 Rensho then I'd maybe offer $400. The blue one pictured above would be a good deal for $800.

shelbyfv 12-19-16 03:58 PM

A photo like the first one in post 13 might help. You wouldn't find those beautiful long thinned lugs on just anything.

sloar 12-19-16 04:13 PM

It's on Ohio Letgo.com if anyone is interested. To far of a drive for me.

As a matter of fact I just sold and shipped the purple one to another forum member to pay off a new Weigle. I really didn't want to part with however was a smidge too small for me.

repechage 12-19-16 05:35 PM

Worth investigating, the graphics placement kind of looks respray to me as does the orange peel to the paint, the fork is playing the right part with aftermarket Scott graphic stickers applied.

lotek 12-20-16 09:18 AM

I'd ask the seller for more detailed pictures of the lugwork etc. before making any decision.
if it is a 3Rensho then the frame is worth the $800 regardless of what it's wearing

dailycommute 12-20-16 10:14 AM

Interesting bike to find in the hands of what appears to be a flea mkt seller/picker. Seemingly knows a genuine 3rensho commands premium but fails to take any good pictures or give proper exposure. Odd about the scott decal on the fork, maybe tri raced?. Guess you would find 3rensho counterfeiter sellers who might respray/decal another frame but doubt they hang on letigo!

Indeed. I kind of doubt the seller would be able to give a potential buyer any accurate details about the bicycle considering the autoharp and chainsaw also lack any detailed info. I guess some flippers don't do any research as to what they are selling, there's just too much work involved.

tarwheel 12-20-16 11:05 AM

I agree with others that the bike could be worth $800 if it's really a 3Rensho and the frame is structurally sound with no rust, dents or bad paint blemishes. 3Renshos are hard to find in general and rare in larger sizes. I like the color but it also raises a red flag because I've never seen a 3Rensho in deep green before. Most commonly they are red, pink, purple, blue and sometimes purple and light green.
