Pinarello Monviso....don't judge me.
Ok,,,,,yes I know...I did say I had to downsize.....but....man.....how do you resist this?
This one has languished locally for over a year now. Took a day off last Tuesday to get a lot of riding in and then for some reason I wound up reaching out to the seller on this. Went to see it and man was it in great shape and the seller was the original owner with a true "steel is real" passion. He took it down off the storage hook and dusted it off while I was there. It was beautiful and truly ready to go, serviced up, etc. He had some other beautiful rides too. Anyway, so this is a mid 90's Monviso with a full Dura Ace 7700 build, Chris King headset, Thomson seatpost, Mavic Open Pro (28f/32r) rims laced to beautiful Dura Ace Hubs. Hardly a mark on the frame or the components, wheels true and buttery smooth, etc. Took it home, gave it a quick look over, lubed the chain, adjusted the saddle, and headed out for my fastest average paced ride of the year. 25 miles on the first test and I had already did a 30 miler earlier that day. Hadn't eaten between rides but this wonderful Pinarello just kept wanting to go. It's only running 700 x 23 tires vs my usual 700 x 25 but still felt smooth and comfortable on the rough chipseal. Minor changes made this morning. The Flite saddle doesn't work for me so for now I put on a Fabric Scoop I had that matches well and my butt likes. I also needed more setback than the straight Thomson allowed so I grabbed a C.F. post out of my stash that I think matches up pretty well. Then while I was messing with it I grabbed my available November Nimbus Ti wheels and threw them on too. They Veloflex 700 x 25 tires on the Novembers give me more volume so hopefully a cushier ride. Then to finish up I swapped out that mismatched plastic bottle cage for a better matching red alloy one and then swapped the white Keo pedals for some black ones.
All this shed 12 ozs off the bike which actually all came from the wheel swap. Nice! What is the tubing? Fork decal looks like "Kens" or "Keno"--something new to me either way? It looks like the fork crown and lugs I associate with MAX framesets. Is it over-sized tubing?

Amazing condition, given it's obviously done some miles by the look of the big ring.
The Octalink logo on the crank seems unusual for Dura-Ace, and the finish on it looks excellent - did you manage to score an anodised crankset? Most of them were clear coated, epic fail for Dura-Ace. |

Judged? Given title typo I was expecting - "Is this an Italian bike? I made it look like one!" 23s (and smaller) just make you want to GO! Can change the whole bike's feel, as it was intended to ride. For proof, look at the rear tire to downtube clearance. Racer sharp. Solid seatstays. Did I miss the tubeset? |
Beautiful bike! And sooo clean! I added a Pinarello to my fleet this year too, and I love it. Somehow the materials, design, and workmanship come together to really make Pinarellos sing.

@Colonel Sanders - If you are lucky, you can find a pick up a frame/fork for under $500. Full bike in that condition is closer to $2000.
I have less than $1200 in this one built up from the frame/fork with HS. In my case I found a couple of really really good deals. The wheels were less than $150. If you were to buy the parts individually it would be more like $500 or more. They are made up with Campagnolo 10speed Record hubs with the cassette, Ambrosio Nemesis rims and came with Conti 4000 tires. Check ebay for those items and see what is being asked or what they sold for. |

Im in same situation and would have made the same choice, although $ is usually a factor Dont want to know the $ since this may affect my N+1 |
