I'm a no gloves guy. Yesterday was my first no gloves ride of the year. It was great.

Nope. It's one lawn, broken up by driveways, buildings, parking lots, and trees/ivy.

I guess if you really wanted to be technical you could call it two, because it's the church lot plus a house that the church bought next door. But I consider it all the church lawn now.

You said on Friday it was 65F.

Sounds more like a bottom surgeon, but whatever.

Short stroke high RPM.

Yeaaand?

I also said that, among other things, I had worn gloves and, in retrospect, it was too much. The morning forecast didn't call for 65 and they are light gloves, so I thought that I would be okay. No gloves (and no base layer) would have been okayer.

My "work" for the week is complete(weekly UI claim filed), and now its time to ride.

I thought I would be riding more miles with all this free time, but 300ish per week is about all I'm interested in doing.

It eventually warmed up a bit, but not enough to take the gloves off or go with fingerless if it had started that temp. And by then there were getting to be too many people out.

Still, a few real miles felt good. I do miss bombing the old route up north, but nothing that involves a public bathroom these days.

That's not exactly low mileage.

Definitely not low mileage, but not much more than normal for this time of year.

This week might be my last one on furlough, so I'm thinking about going for 400 miles. I have plenty of time, but will I be able to find the motivation?

Even as you mocked me for overdressing, you were overdressing! I rode my quarter century that evening sans base layer or gloves. #HTFU

As long as you don't over-hydrate you should be able to do two or three hours no problem.

As if I needed any more proof that I’m too old, too fat and too slow for this sport, I made the mistake of joining a fake group ride with Mathieu van Der Poel and Petr Vakoč this morning. Needles to say, it could have gone better. Here I am toiling away in high Z3, low Z4 on a “climb”, and vDP decides to share his heart rate. 99 bpm.

Not even “Sad!”, Tragic!

Goolge maps image from yesteryear. The street name is not painted on the road.

I didn't want to put this in the greater 41, but it is called for.

You're missing the fact that "up north" means a 45-minute drive each way, so no getting around it. And likely more than three hours, which is not "no problem" for AG.

It was supposed to be sub-50 when I set out. I had bad intel - blame the meteorologists.

Excuse invalid once you walk out the door.

In 2006 I created an entry for a high school I went to. I hadn't looked at the page in years. Today it looked like one of the students must have added sections to it (with high school-level writing). Sad.

As iconic as the BS and its sign are, it wasn't that. I don't know when it was established. It's been there for a long time! I've ridden by it hundreds of times during the last 15 years, probably.
