I must brave the cold and drive to PHL and pick up daughter #2. She is going to be shocked by the temperature change. Luckily, the heater still works in the Saturn.

Aggies vs Vols for SEC roundball title tomorrow.

That’s Mandelbaum. The Mandelbrot set is arguably the most iconic set/shape in fractal geometry.

I'm shopping for a simple 14" laptop for light duty tasks like web browsing, streaming, and just overall "things that are way easier on a desktop than mobile" tasks.

Given that use case, Is there any real difference between non SATA SSD drive types like eMMC or NVMe?

Fortunately, it's Saturday and we didn't need to go anywhere.

I considered riding to the shop today but was glad I didn't since it got colder and windier as the day went on. I think it was about 35 when I left this afternoon.

Yes.

Remember, you are not buying to handle todays apps, you are buying to handle tomorrows apps. And those of the next day.

Steam is a large gaming platform and gaming is a whole different ballgame, with fetching data to load maps and textures and whatnot (not to mention the CPU and GPU usage). The light duty that he's talking about is orders of magnitude less demanding.

I just referenced the article since it describes the differences in SSDs. Agree, no need for a gaming rig. I’d still want the faster drive.

Sure, but they're talking about the differences from the perspective of gaming. He's not going to be loading 5gb maps or anything like that. NVMe has huge throughout, but both forms of storage are fast; he doesn't need a firehose when all he wants to do is fill his cup with water.

Would *I* want the faster drive? Of course, my primary is NVMe. Will there be a practical or even noticeable difference in his use case? Prolly not.

Happy to be able to watch Supercross live from Detroit on CNBC. I hope they keep it free.

In-laws were here Tours-today for AG's birthday, on a swing back from SFO.

Usually the break form routine is frustrating, but it was a nice distraction - now with them gone the despair for the world is back. I'm supposed to go up to CO to see my mother next week and I'm literally afraid I'll go and the world will end while I'm away from AG.

How are y'all coping?

The anxiety comes and goes for me. The first part of the ride today it was gnawing at me but late in the ride I started feeling pretty good.

None.

The people we've elected will take care of it for us.

I'm happy as a little clam.

If the world ends, I don’t think I’ll give a ****. Not sure dead people care about anything. And, if the world goes nuclear and tits up, I’m not sure I want to be around anyway.

Ya think? That’s what I meant when I said “plus a couple other things”.

I registered for the first races of the season, and they're down in Colorado Springs. I hope it waits long enough for me to get a couple more under my belt before they go to town. Cheyenne Mountain and all. It'll be quick if they decide to pick a week from Sunday.

I figured, that's why I was trying to be delicate about it.

It has been truly ideal the last several days!

Looks like Texas and Minnesota are somewhat safe. Big John and Eric probably so, also. Abshipp too.

Yep. My hotel room is throwing distance to Peterson.

You're toast. At least you might get a good tan.

Seems like LA to SD would be pretty safe, taking distance from nearest targets and prevailing winds into consideration, unless they decide to nuke SoCal for the hell of it :)

One of the best parts of watching Dodgers' home games? Sweet '80s tuneage!!!

Hokies played a heck of a game, beating Duke like they did.

Well tanned corpse. Yes indeed. As I come to screeching halt in this thing we call life, looking good is always a plus.

Who am I kidding. :) Scarred up and worn out. The tan just means I'm well done.
