The bands from my HS era were the Stones, Beatles, Doors, Moody Blues, Hendrix, Cream, Deep Purple, Animals, Led Zeppelin, Steppenwolf, Kinks, Hollies, REO Speedwagon, just to name a few. I don't think I could pick any favorite single songs. It was a magic time to live through with a lot of wild stuff happening daily and also that thing going on over in SE Asia. Exciting and scary times, both. Glad that I lived it and yes, I do remember it.

This was pretty much what was on the radio station I listened to from middle school thru high school. I don't really have 3 favorites, so I just picked some.

Is this the modern day equivalent of "Boone's Farm"?

rjones28 04-08-20 07:14 AM

Of course, I wouldn't take any physical recordings with me. It's all in my head.

Bottles of wine already go fast enough in my house.

:roflmao2:we already do that.

I just did another virtual ride on Zwift.

I have a question for people who have trained more with power. I notice that I can ride say "easy-all day" at something like Zone 2, no problem....Zone 3, mildly hard but can still maintain for a long time. Getting into Zone 4 is fine for a few minutes but I can't sustain it indefinitely, and of course Zone 5 is short term. I think that's "normal."

The problem is on Zwift, sometimes there is a sprint or a hill and I have to go beyond Zone 5, say 140-200% of FTP. I do that as best I can for several seconds to bridge the gap or not get dropped....but once I do that effort, even staying in Zone 3 is hard for me. I feel totally shot and have to drop to Zone 1 for a few minutes to recover. What happens on Zwift is that I burn matches, bridge the gap, only to get dropped because I can't maintain Zone 2/3.

It's hard to say how much of this weakness is mental and how much is physiologic, I suspect it's both.

Any comments or advice?

How does this feel relative to on-road exertions?

A part of it is how you're built, a part is how you train. The speed with which I recover from aerobic efforts is one of my big yardsticks for fitness - it's a very notable difference between early season and late summer.

I'll be fine financially(in theory) if this doesn't last more than 6 months, but what am I supposed to do with all this free time?

Heard this from too many people already. Let's hope it doesn't.

I'm working and I've been riding so much I already need a rest week.

Seems the big problem is recovering from ANAEROBIC efforts.

I also experience Zwift as harder than the road, but I do most of my stuff in erg mode, which is totally unforgiving and I suspect output on the road is much more variable and full of micro rests. OTOH, my HR on the road can average lower Zone 5 for an hour and feel like nothing, whereas on Zwift it would be big effort. I think the only definitive answer can come from a power tap for the road bike and I'm not there yet.

Don't you think it's because you can't effectively lighten your load? At least that's what I always feel when on a trainer. It's that constant pressure all the time even when you try to ease up.

I dumb. That's what I meant. So does it feel similar to when you're on the road or worse?
