Oh wow. Gorgeous. Have these been repainted?

gravelinmygears 09-16-21 04:25 PM

The Limited was painted by Ed Litton in 2019. The A frame - I assume it's a repaint. It's possible that it's original considering the guy I got it from stored all of his numerous bikes indoors and this one doesn't look ridden. But that seems unlikely. Its just so nice.

That light blue + silver components is the best combo on the planet. Change my mind.

That bike is a stunner, but I keep flipping back and forth between liking the blue and the red (maroon?) the best. That dark sultry red is so sexy!

Another free bump. Someone please buy these! I have too many projects and I don't care to take even more advantage of my girlfriend's patience by adding ANOTHER bike to the apartment. :(

That's my issue. I bought the blue one and then was offered the red one and couldn't resist. Then I got a deal on an Orange custom Eisentraut that I like best of all. Hard to turn them away.

Another free bump. Fantastic bikes. That maroon "A" is dead sexy. The Limited is lovely as well.

Albert built excellent riding frames that are also works of art. Eisentraut's top-shelf reputation is well deserved. If you buy one or both of these, you will not regret it.

I am interested in the red Eisentraut. Can you contact me to discuss> I am in California. Is that Campy group original to the bike?
Jim

If I were to buy an Eisentraut...the red one... :speedy:

Can you send me a few more detailed pictures of the painted areas, chain stays , seat tube, bottom bracket , etc. Can you read the serial # ?

Thank you
Jim

These were purchased as frames and then built up by the original owners. I'm at least the third owner on both so I'm not sure when the parts were added. They seem period correct to me. Send me a PM if you want to discuss more.

gravelinmygears Were those bikes original to NM?

If so, they were probably sold by Joel B. at Bicycle World. They had 2 shops, one on Central Ave. in Albuquerque across from UNM, the other in Santa Fe.

Joel was part of the Original Turin Bicycle Co-op. He moved from Chicago to New Mexico and opened the Albq. shop at the beginning of the Bike Boom Fad in 1970-71. They did a land office business. He knew Albert Eisentraut well and started selling his frames in 1975.

Bicycle World was about 3 block from our shop and I regularly stopped by to see Joel and check out (drool over) the latest Eisentraut frames so I saw most of them that went through there.

I saw your Limited frame at Ed Litton's both before and after repainting. Ed and Albert were partners for a long time and he painted most of the frames during the 80's and 90's.

Ed Litton (left) and Albert Eisentraut (right) at their shop in Oakland, CA in the 80's. I don't remember who was in the middle.

Abq

I purchased them from other collectors on each coast. That's great info, though. I've seen a lot of Eisentraut photos and this one is new to me. I've only been in ABQ for a couple years but Bicycle World has been gone for a while. Only 2 Wheel Drive is left of the "old" shops. The Bike COOP is around but it's a different shop.
