I don't want the answer until the game is over (no spoilers). If it is over, please tell me the answer.
As far as this particular post, I appear to be the only one who played today. |

l. IIRC, he was a fast, but not necessarily a good descender.

There is a bit of that going around. I know several people who were very fit and fast but had life-altering crashes at speed.

Spouse has a new car but we still have their old one, thankfully.
I went to start my truck last week and there was an awful rattle - my water pump bearings are done for so it needs a new one. It should be something I can take care of in my driveway for less than $200, but in the mean time I’ve been driving the old Escape. Even though the thing doesn’t have AC I have been enjoying driving it around enough that I’m thinking of selling my truck and getting this one fixed. Only thing is, it’s got 205k and my truck has 160k. But I could sell my truck, get the AC fixed in the Escape, and come out ahead by probably $4k-5k. Tough decision, but I really don’t like my truck… |
Dude it was hot this morning. I don’t think I have ever sweated so much on a bike before. Goal was 75 miles but the heat and fatigue was just too much. Legs felt fresh but over all was jsut tired. HRV was 30 this morning which I usually don’t see until 3 days of heavy riding. Wanted 1000 for the trek century challenge but it doesn’t look that is going to happen. With the days off I have left I would need to ride almost 80 miles a day.

Cripes. No, that's not the word.

I need to be a bit less anxious descending, but not too much. The descending is what keeps me from doing more climbing.

Most of the time I try to be very careful and I don't like to descend with other riders close to me. Years ago I would tuck and try to get maximum speed and I would wonder how much the tires could take in a turn.
we had an informal '50 mph club' - I was one of the few in the group that did not hit 50 ... I think I was at 48.5 max I also preferred to spread out on the descents - just in case deer appeared or any other 'challenges' one time guy in front of me on a big descent hit a big dip and it launched a full water bottle off the bike and slid across the road ... just missed it ... from that point on I was more careful I would never do any of that stuff now - even if I was in shape to get up the climb before the descent |

I have never enjoyed fast descents. And since I do 99% of my riding here in the flatlands, I am getting no practice.
|
The first of two pair of new riding shorts came in a few minutes ago. Gonna try them out shortly. They fit quite a bit tighter than those twenty something year old performance shorts.
