The weather is ugly out there today, sleeting and snowing and all. Thankfully my doctor's appointment was converted to a virtual visit so neither of us had to travel out there.

We spent an equal amount of time discussing birds of prey as we did discussing medical issues. :)

FWIW, I tend to think of rides with a TSS of less than 100 as being pretty tame, from a stress and recovery point of view, unless you're doing that day in and day out.

This is whatís inexplicable to me, my overall load isnít much higher.

Welp, now I've done it - signed up for Rapha Rising, which will be my first event on ZwiftPower. Stage one, today, is the Alpe, which I'm pretty familiar with. I don't expect to place well within category, and I'm not exactly treating it as a race, but I'm thinking that, with all of the traffic (for draft and motivation), I might be able to improve my PR a hair, if I'm feelin' decent.

I mean the route creator on Garmin- I usually just have Strava adjust the elevation

120-something out of 370-something in the B Category. Bettered my PR on the climb, but not by as much as I'd hoped. That was one gripe - there was no data against my PR. If I would have known, coming out of the last corner, I might have been able to bury myself just a little deeper. :notamused:

Your capacity to suffer is much higher than mine. Kudos

Our family doctor is a Porsche nut. My wife always complains that he wants to talk to her more about my cars than her medical condition.

In other news, what's up with Boris Johnson's hair?

We're done, just 2-3 inches of mostly sleet.

Yeah, could just be a something else, like sickness. The numbers are a nice guideline, but there's always other factors - sometimes you just don't feel as good as the numbers indicate and sometime you feel inexplicably good. For me, sleep (or lack thereof) was a big culprit in not feeling as well as I should, as well as the occasional illness.

Woohoo - ZwiftPower says I placed higher than I'd thought - 99th out of 238. I guess I'm on the good side of mediocre within the Bs. :p

Thats interesting. I feel exactly the same this week. Last night I would have guessed my power output was pretty decent, but it ended up being an average of 186 over 27 miles where based on effort Iíd have figured 210 range. My legs feel sore and tired, I think perhaps the non-rona illness may be playing a part

Hmmmm....

It has been colder than usual this week, after a week of being much warmer. I'm not riding outside, but I do wonder to what extent that influences things in ways we don't grasp?

The Mariners and the Pads are out on their respective practice fields. Now if I could just get a $15 Budweiser, it'll pretty much be a Spring Training game.

We've had more cold and more snow over the last few days - that ****'s certainly affecting me. The only silver lining is that it's starting to get light(ish) before 7am.

I might be mistaken, but I believe "Minnesota" is an old Cippewa word for "this place is too damn cold".

The crazy thing is that after her second guess, the correct answer the only word it could have been based on the letters she had used.

Never change greens. Wonder how much she paid for her PhD, that is in something language-related, no less?

Mojo31 02-25-22 12:57 PM

My approach is all over the place, but I always start with a word containing two vowels and some combinations of the letters S, T, R and H. My theory is to throw out what I think are the most commonly used consonants.

Indy's friend's approach is rather weird, but that can be excused if she's really good looking. ;)

I hate to say it, but that is probably how my wife's game would look. Is your friend blonde as well?

That was my guess, based on the direction of your view. That trail starts a short distance from where I grew up. Nice day for a hike...or bike ride :)
