I don't wear deck shoes when there's a chance of getting seriously wet. Leather moccasins are a very poor choice for those conditions. It's athletic-type boat shoes, which don't stretch when wet, stay on your feet, and dry quickly, Keen sandals with the closed toe, or boots.
