Recall this is the dumbed-down NYT version. The original UK version would probably be a better choice.

Re running aground under spin: two words: mast and cleat. It was in a race practice in 20 kts on an unfamiliar 4ksb. I was mast man. We had a Navy rescue swimmer on board and we made it his job to swim a line to another boat through as high a density of sea nettles as I have ever seen. Fortunately the owner is about the mellowest guy on earth and we still laugh about it.

Mrs. John was reading yesterday that lots of people are complaining about the NYT version being "too hard".

Sounds like a challenging day ahead.

I had to change the battery in my PM Saturday. The struggle is real.

My buddy got stuck in 35/10 yesterday because his batteries were toast.

Okay doctors-

Iíve been having pressure on my temples with corresponding dizziness at times. It comes and goes but is never present when exercising. No balance issues, my pupils respond to light, and no other neuro symptoms as far as I can tell. Thinking itís either tension headache or sinus infection. I see my PCP today at 3, but was curious about thoughts

I think seeing your PCP to get checked in person is a good idea!

Telemedicine is an option but given drop in cases lately and value of physical exam, I suggest office visit is Plan A and telemedicine is Plan B.

This doesn't make up for the other day's failure on "swill", but it helps.

I think about the times I felt I needed to see a doctor, and in almost none of them did it seem telemedicine would work. Even the largely pointless witch doctor "exams" they listen to heart/breathing. Can't do that over the internets.

If telemedicine were the only option Iíd have walked into an urgent care instead. Sometimes itís fine, but for this I want an actual physical exam.

I see a doctor for a condition that is measured solely by blood and urine tests. They do take my blood pressure, but I can do that at my desk while they watch if they want to. During my appointments, the doctor goes through the test results, usually telling me that nothing has changed. I'd rather do telemedicine if my condition hasn't changed rather than sit in the waiting room with a large number of people. Including drive time, an office visit takes about 3 to 3.5 hours whereas the telephone call takes about 15 minutes.

wut

If you could do a virtual consultation, and have blood sample taken at a nearby lab, that would make telemedicine more practical for many situations, but that's not how most doctors work, is it?

This particular doctor is located in Fort Worth, about a 30 minute drive. Between drive time and time sitting waiting, an afternoon is usually consumed. The lab I use is about a mile away. I go to the lab a week ahead of the appointment, and give them my fluids. At my scheduled time, the doctor calls the number I give them. I just answer the call while going about my business, and don't have to sit in the waiting room. During the appointment he asks if I feel good or have noticed any changes since last year (I answer yes and no to those questions), and then he runs down the lab results. Since the typical result is that everything is the same as the last appointment, we just continue the course. By telephone, I save 3 hours or more.

I haven't been to a doctor's office but once in the last 3 years. The one I go to is my cardiologist who's office is less than a mile from me (he actually lives next door to my office).
