Wasn’t raining today so took a spin up the Middle Fork road to our local National Forest. Did get another 1st for my age group on one 2mile Strava Segment thanks to a hellacious tailwind. Average speed over that stretch -> 28 MPH.

Drove 10 km to my local stream. Carrying 30 L on my way back.

Did a slow easy roll through the valley right down from the house.

Rolled 40 nasty miles. Could have went fishing from all the worms that accumulated on the frame.

40 miles, 3,100 feet of climbing. All road today. Temps were warm...my Garmin reported 90 degree F avg with a max of 100. Definitely enjoyed the ice cold Gatorade from the fridge when I got home.
Kings Mountain Road to Canada |
110 Miles. Poorly marked construction detour routes [vehicle & pedestrian] definitely surmounted unnecessary & unexpected mileage that put it in the triple digits.
Rain & winds moved in right towards the end.... that was another thing to be *caught off guard* by.. a solid experience did crop up outta it all, found two areas to ride thru that is paved, well groomed. & lacked pedestrian traffic. |

32 miles. Still feeling the effects of Covid. My ride today was pretty fast, but I didn't feel strong.

First century ever completed, 164 km!! To make things easier, I picked a flat route, that went through 4 major towns, so supply is not a problem. The weather was favorable, with very light side- or tailwind most of the time, and there was a treeline on the way back into headwind. Unsurprisingly nobody was interested in such a boring route, so I went solo. I left home at 9:30 am. The first 60km was easy, and I reached the first checkpoint and spent some time touring the town (which I did not record with my App) looking for restaurants. Set off to after lunch and fatigue started to set in at around 90km mark (which is usual for me) but checkpoint 2 was near. Took a long 20min break at checkpoint 2 and then began the ride home. I only managed 24-27 km/s on the last leg. At least I went home pretty much on time, at around 7:00 pm.

24 miles yesterday. It was time to play “Snake? Not a Snake?” on the trail.
22 miles today and it was 90F, so the snakes were happy and didn’t need to lounge on the rocks. Otto |

I did a 300km brevet yesterday with 177 Personal Bests or tied for PB. Who knew there are so many segments on rides. I had to count them. Sixth time I've done this route, best time by 1:06. I guess my recovery from ten broken bones and two surgeries post crash is in the history books. This old bag of bones is back, I suppose anyone of a certain age who fought to regain fitness post serious injury or illness can understand why I had to count the PBs

It has been a 6 day 20h training week for me with 577km, 4625m elevation. Longest ride was 170km. Today was just over 100km with a few intervals, one being 7.5km @ 51km/h ave.
After a couple of early races, my racing calendar is now empty until September so have until then to get into shape. I think our normal racing schedule will only resume next year and then the gaps will disappear. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...d34ed67645.png |
46 hot and humid miles this morning, only 4 of us showed up but at least there was almost no traffic, that’s why I love riding Sunday mornings!
