I tried putting a bolt on one of the cutouts and whacking it with a hammer. Fail.

Damn! I had one of those tools until recently and ditched it because I knew I’d never have a SSFW again. It’s probably on there too tight, but a pair of needle nose pliers and a big adjustable?

Good news is I went out at daybreak and finished my 3 1/2 hour ride while the family was still in sleep/morning mode.

I have a noon teleconference with my office partners. We are likely going to talk about shutting the office completely and having everyone work from home with a skeleton crew of 2-3 nurses and one non-clinical worker, plus the 5 docs. Sad. We are hemorrhaging $$$ and even with the furloughs and telemedicine it's looking grim.

Dang! More rough news.

My older brother and I were talking about this a few days ago. It’s a good time to be retired with so many people around us struggling with their future.

We’ll be fine and I’m not even sure I how I feel about my wife going back to work, given the risks. It’s just all the years of sweat equity and good will the old partners have built up in the practice and the implicit promise they made the young ones, all of whom had to buy in. It would be a shame to see that end with a whimper.

I'm thinking she needs to miss a meal or two. That usually gets the attention of the privileged, and is a great teaching tool.

Failed. Can’t get enough torque. Might just buy a SS freewheel from ScamBay for $7 and ask the LBS to take this off once COVID19 situation better.

Forewent a ride today in favor of stimulating the local economy by getting a burger (take-out, of course) from one of the most popular local restaurants. 1 o'clock on a Saturday usually means about a 30 minute wait, even for bar seating in normal times. Today, one car pulled out of the lot as I pulled in, and there were only 4 tickets waiting after mine on the table outside. They got a 100% tip from me today even though I know that's not really going to help anything. Long walk and some jump-rope this evening, longer ride tomorrow.
The news last night was reporting that places like Commander's Palace are partnering with Rouses supermarket, packaging up their most famous dishes and selling them there. So that's something, at least- improvising and adapting.

Nice little 23 mile ride. A touch colder than I like but whatever.
Hang in there Datlas. Been there a few times I know how you feel.

I think you need this tool.

I've used various tools like a flat blade screwdriver and a hammer to remove one, but it wasn't pretty.

I could let you borrow mine if you don't want to buy one.

One of my friends has the tool and will help next week.

I saw that and tried the method. No luck. It’s a crappy BD bike and it’s possible the threads are seized. If my friend can’t get it off with his tool, I will get a new one from ScamBay for $7.

Yes, I know. Family forum!

I wonder why patentcad has not dropped by. If he is sheltering in place, you would think the boredom factor would have kicked in.

This is the way the world ends. Not with a bang but a with a whimper.

Good for you. We'll do Thai again tomorrow, and give them a good tip as well. It does help. It may, unfortunately, not be enough.

He's got a woman. Women trump this measly forum.

I do not envy you your position. I was rather rational at that age, relatively, but I think even I would have felt like my world was ending.

Also, aren't you married yourself?
