My biggest issue now is what kind of country and world they're going to be living in as adults.

My thoughts too. Our first grandchild is due in late August. Fifty years hence? Beyond my capabilities to imagine.
My dad was six at the crash. His only scar, that I am aware of, was his refusal to eat cabbage ever again.

Autumn is officially here. The season formerly known as summer lasted a scant four weeks.

It's high summer here - right now, it's about 58 degrees with 10-20 mph winds from the West and everything's getting crunchy underfoot, getting ready for fall, when it will be 90-100 and on fire.

Some of us have to stay on our best behavior around the mods. We don't have that built in 'stop' that so many if youse take for granted.

My dad loved cabbage in all kinds of dishes. My mother made it for him quite often. Stuffed cabbage rolls, cole slaw, and all manner of German dishes. I love it too. Mrs. John uses it in a stir fry and it's yummy.

Heat advisory and thunderstorms here today.

Must be time to service the winter commuter. Or at least pump up the tyres. It felt like trying to ride through treacle this morning.

Right now the plan here is to have regular school + online school for those who have already opted for it. Sounds like a mess in the making.

Your winter is our October, probably.

Telling them what to do will surely help.

My grandmother made stuffed cabbage rolls back in the day (Eastern European). I opened a new can of sauerkraut this evening. It was good.

.

Interestingly, about 70% are going back to the classroom and 30% choose online.

I haven't had sauerkraut in a while. Nor cabbage. I prefer Brussel Sprouts.

We don't really have winter. Sometimes it rains and a cold day here would be in the mid 50s. It's hot a lot of the year and sometimes it's beautiful. Where I live is about 25 miles from downtown LA over a small mountain range, so no coastal cooling influence like LA gets. It can be over 100 for weeks on end. A few years ago it was 115 and our a/c quit working. I've been on rides when it's been over 110.

Pirkaus 07-28-20 02:50 AM

My grandmother used to make sauerkraut in a large crock in her basement.
The memory of which has rendered the canned stuff inedible, some of the jarred stuff is marginally "ok".

That's the one thing I'm sure we can count on; nothing will be properly planned. MLB is all over bar the shouting. NFL will get cancelled during training camp, probably the first week. Do I maintain hope that cycling can proceed?

indyfabz 07-28-20 04:59 AM

Got to be at the mechanic by 8 so I can possibly get a same-day inspection.

bampilot06 07-28-20 05:22 AM

House inspection this morning. Hopefully nothing major is wrong with it.

It was 78 degrees when I woke up an hour ago. Where the hell am I, Texas?

My wife’s been making sauerkraut lately. And kimchi. I’m not into either one. She and an organic farmer friend are preparing an instructional slide show for some upcoming event.

We’re at our house in MA today, it was 97 here yesterday and was 83 when I woke up.

We've been getting a lot of rain, but it's been unusually cooperative in terms my riding schedule. Woke at 5:30, per usual, and saw that some rains had moved through. Clouds were still lingering and provided a nice sunrise -

Unfortunately, the roads were still wet, too, which means an increase in puncture likelihood, and I heard my rear tire hissing upon getting home. I'm scheduled for a sealant level check tomorrow, but my mileage rate has just about doubled in the last six weeks, so it might be that I'm actually past-due. Guess I should see to that today. :o

What exactly is treacle?

Sauerkraut is part of my childhood and a comfort food, in combination with German charcuterie. Kimchi, I can take or leave.

How does wet roads cause punctures?
