For proper treatment at a facility near Kitchener. It was oily water. The oil was extracted and re refined, the water treated for disposal.

Years ago we took the Corvair on a vintage diner tour through upper New York State.
We'd try to hit 3 to 5 a day.
Sometimes just to have a coffee and look around a bit.
I'm sure we saw one in Rome.

I was under the impression they closed their doors sometime in the 80's? There were two factories, one in Rome N.Y., and one in Riverside California. Here's a bit of history about the one in California.

Let us not forget the 2 speed Powerglide.
You could wind those up to 35-40 before they'd shift.

We wound my buddies up to 60 before shifting into drive. :eek: 33 Chevy street rod. See there are two 3's in 33. ;)

Powerglide was far too reliable.
Discontinued.No maintenance required.
The dragster guys really liked 'em.

Nice DL-1. The last of the line. I do miss the white mudguard blaze though. Makes me think of the people building this while knowing they would soon be out of work. Not sure about the market in a big city like Toronto, but in New England, he would be lucky to get half that price.

I agree. A very specific market for a bike like that.
I was working on a TV show that took place in the 1920's (Frankie Drake Mysteries)
a few years ago, and went around and bought 4/5 DL-1s to use as props.
I removed the triggers/cables etc and put 22T cogs on them so that
the extras could ride them around.

That was my mom's pots 'n pans set, too.

That depended a lot on the engine in front of it. The base started out with an inline six. My buddy's 33 had a 327 in it, but serious Drag Racers had a lot more. :eek:
But those are two speeds, we need to get back to three speeds. ;)

My mother had a few of those pots too. Must have dated back to the late 50s/ early 60s. In the 70s, when I got my own apartment, I bought a small pot like the one I was used to for my kitchen. I still have it, but it seemed thin and cheap compared to the one at my mom's. The bottom warped. It just wasn't as good. That seems to be the way companies go down the drain. Start with a good product, then cost cut and cost cut again until the product is a mere shadow of the original. And then, within a year or so, the new cheapened version is being imported from China.

I had one of those in my 1963 Buick Wildcat with the 429 'Rocket' motor. When I hit second gear, it was not uncommon to have the rear end break loose for a bit if I had it floored (but oddly, it got over 20mpg if I was easy on it). I was a stupid kid...

I just replaced my '72 AW (which has a failing 1st gear) with a '62. During the process I realized that the later hub had a dust cap behind the sprocket that is absent on earlier models. It can't be retro fitted without some machining, but seems like it would be a good idea. FWIW the '62 hub shifts much nicer...

I just went through the contents of the Rim Room. I thought I had a pair of Super Champion 58 rims, but I only have one! My 1952 Rudge Aero Special will (when she's ready for new shoes) need a Wolber Super Champion 58 (blue label) 32 hole 27 x 1 1/4" aluminum rim, NOT hooked bead. I already have a 40 hole for the rear. My old girl doesn't have the best complexion, but she is ladylike enough to play matchy matchy with her shoes. So one good Wolber requires another.

Anybody?

A friend of mine had a Triumph TR-4. The car was a rusted out wreck, but it moved and had a great transmission - 4 speed, so still in scope for Sturmey Archer devotees!

It's all good. Sometimes the need to explore different topics is a refreshing shot in the arm. No experience with a TR-4, but I'll bet it was fun. :)
